Added to shielding list

Hello. I have just received an email saying I have been added to the shielding list as of today. I read that this was going to be happening for some people.

Has anyone else received one and does anyone know when this selection of people will be vaccinated?

An email? It may well be legitimate but are you certain?

There was a scam email being sent inviting people to book a vaccine. But this has only ever been done by letter (or phone from individual practices). It wouldn’t surprise me if the scam is adapted for shielding too.

I’m happy to be corrected, but as far as I know the NHS are sending shielding letters rather than emails.

And in terms of the question you actually asked - it would put you in Group 4. So you should be able to receive your vaccine when Group 4’s are being called in your area.

If your area have moved past Group 4 already, try calling 119.

Shielding letters do come by email, the emails get sent out in advance of the actual physical letter arriving (but yes it's very sensible to be careful)

I got one today no idea why though. I’ve already had my first jab so can’t help with the second question.

Is this right? I've had GD (get tested every year now) and not had any kind of email.

Yes, I had GD with my son but also have asthma, relatively mild asthma though.

Does the email say why you’re being included or just that you are now included

It doesn’t say as they don’t have access to that information.

How did you receive the invitation to book? I haven’t had anything for that yet.

I also got the email today, and have had GD in the past. Thanks @ChangedNick I never knew that could be the reason why.

I had spoken with the doctor's receptionist this morning and she didn't know why either, they had already had a few calls regarding it this morning. She could only advise that I call 119 and ask if the have any more info or get a doctors phone appointment and they could tell me.

They have definitely reworked the shielding list so there are letters coming out. I can't see why GD is on it though.

I had one too - already group 6 because I have type 2 diabetes. Have already had my first jab anyway.

I'm inclined to ignore it because I've already had Covid! So if I catch it again, likely to be milder - and that was before I had the jab.

Re booking - I would suggest trying the national booking service. As long as the database has been updated, you should be able to access it that way.

People with asthma aren't priority now are they? Unless on steroids or been in hospital etc?
Just seen another thread on this. Lady also had GD.

I think it must be the GD combined with my asthma perhaps 🤔

@mumboss1984 I got the invitation to book by text, but am in London - assume it will bath by area depending on capacity as to when they get to this new group?

Yes I got the email this morning but I was half expecting it since we heard about all this. I got a text to book vaccine before the email came through so if you've had the email you should be contacted pretty swiftly for an appointment.
