Just been pinged

Okay so am a bit freaked out.

Have the NHS track and trace App on my phone and have just been pinged I've been in close contact with someone who has tested positive. Now got to self isolate for 5 days.

Bit worried and also baffled. I've not been out. Wtf.

As well, my chest has been tight on and off for a few days and I've had a weird headache. Now I'm worried I'm imagining it but don't have any " classic " symptoms, so can't order a test.

Please can someone advise. For some reason I'm a bit freaked out .

Could it be a neighbour?

I would get tested if I were you just to be on the safe side.

Dizzybintess · 17/02/2021 23:25

have you been to any shops?
Or out for a walk?

Jeremyironseverything · 17/02/2021 23:27

Headache was my main symptom. I didn't really have classic symptoms. My cough was loose etc.

Get a test. Lie if you have to.

Chosennone · 17/02/2021 23:28

I had the same 2 weeks ago. I'd only been to Aldi. I then felt headachey and coldy so put symptoms into Zoe App. It suggested a test, went the next day - negative. I know lots of similar stories.
Get a test.

CotleyMew · 17/02/2021 23:28

Yeah could be a neighbour I guess.

I did go to a shop about ten days or so ago.

Bloody hell. Having a right panic now.

My husbands job means he is unable to work from home- I think I read that unless I test positive then no one else needs to self isolate in the house. Unless I am mistaken.

Think I may get that test. 😩

In the settings it’ll tell you the date of exposure...

It's more than likely your husband bringing it home if you've caught it rather than a neighbour?
CotleyMew · 17/02/2021 23:30

Can i go to a drive through to test? Even though I am meant to SI ?

Bit confused

These posts are bloody ridiculous OP: I can’t have it. I haven’t been anywhere Everyone: Are you sure? OP: Well I went to shop within the last 14 days. Oh and my husband works out of the home Confused

Just get a test.

Porcupineintherough · 17/02/2021 23:35

Yes, get tested. You have suspicious symptoms and you've been a close contact. And yes you can drive to a testing facility or even go to a walk in, they're geared up to deal with positive pe8. Best of luck.

CotleyMew · 17/02/2021 23:35

Thank you everyone.

I can't find the date or where I had contact. It's just saying 5 days SI ... ☹️

I've looked in settings but can't see it.
Can anyone help please.

The husband going out is irrelevant though if he hasn’t tested positive. It wouldn’t ping the OPs phone.

A neighbour is certainly possible. My DF is shielding (properly) but still got pinged. He lives next to a small business which still has staff working there. It really can’t be anything else in his case.

Porcupineintherough · 17/02/2021 23:39

Well isolation for a close contact is 10 days so I'd guess your contact was 5 days ago.

Porcupineintherough · 17/02/2021 23:41

Oh and as for booking a test, just lie. They should have updated the symptoms list months ago.

Cornettoninja · 18/02/2021 08:46

Doesn’t the app look for contacts 48hrs before symptoms/positive test? So it could be up to twelve days ago if that’s the case.
CotleyMew · 18/02/2021 10:38

Test is booked for 11.30 this morning.

Feel a bit achy and breathless. Slightly hot but nothing else really.

Suffer from anxiety hence the post.

Thank you all for your kindness

I would def be getting a test in this scenario. Pleased you are going. I think they are mostly coming back the following day now so fingers crossed. I would probably suggest DH isolates until your test comes back (not strictly speaking necessary but given that you have some dodgy symptoms...)

CrunchyCarrot · 18/02/2021 12:48

Good luck, OP, let us know how you get on.

dementedpixie · 18/02/2021 12:52

Even if the test is negative you would still isolate for the remaining days the app says.

There's apparently a bit on the app that tells you when exposure was.

Fleurchamp · 18/02/2021 13:03

@CotleyMew Gx the test is negative.

If it is an iPhone I think you go into the bit about this app and manage my data - it should tell you the date of exposure.

I have been pinged twice, both from shops - I hadn't been anywhere else on those days.

usernotfound0000 · 18/02/2021 13:07

Definitely wise to test. I didn't have any classic symptoms but the Zoe study app told me to test and it was positive. Results were back in less than 24 hours too so hopefully you shouldn't be waiting too long.

It is also possible that the notification was in error. We were SI due to positive test in the house and on day 9 DH got a notification to say he needed to SI for 6 days (not linked to the positive - he'd had a separate one for that). He had genuinely not left the house as we were isolating, live in a detatched house so can't be a neighbour. The only thing we could think was the postman but we have a regular one and he has still been working.
