Booked for vaccine at 'wrong' site

I had a text from my GP to say i could book for the vaccine and it mentioned appointments were available on 'New Street'.

When I clicked the link to book, the earliest appointment was on the 'Old Street' site and it was drive through (more convenient for me), so I booked with that one.

Now I have just noticed on the website page I was directed to, it says "Please ONLY book at the site which has been mentioned in your text message/ letter you have received or have been advised on phone."

Ooooppppps. It also says I can't change it with less than 24 hours notice. I'm meant to be going tomorrow at 9am.

Will the site matter? Don't they all do the same thing?

And yes, I feel very silly for not reading properly and just booking it in haste Blush

You're entitled to the vaccine. You've got an appointment.
Keep the appointment.

Rolled out on a massive scale at unprecedented speed, of course there are wrinkles and imperfections.

Don't worry, go to your appointment.

WhatTheActualFreshHell · 16/02/2021 20:24

Thank you. I will definitely keep the appointment. Smile

I'm annoyed With myself that I haven't done as they asked and wondered if there was a particular reason why they direct you to a certain site.

I'm over analysing.

My parents each had to travel 35 miles apart for their jabs on different days to different cities. There's a vaccination hub in their home town but, no, not available for them...

Dad has cancer. Mum is blind. Both late 70s.

WhatTheActualFreshHell · 16/02/2021 20:42

So you think there was a reason they were directed elsewhere @fairydustandpixies?

No idea! Other people I know who live within a mile of my parents were all sent to the vaccination hub in their town, all the same week too.

Frazzled2207 · 16/02/2021 20:58

Just go along anyway. Wil be fine. Let your gp know that you went to the wrong site just in case it complicates your second dose somehow

Sounds difficult, perhaps it was so that they could get Pfizer vaccine?

Parent’s friends have said this too (London) - people on same streets being sent to different centres but unclear why

I think the fast rollout is causing various discrepancies

10kaDay · 16/02/2021 21:33

And @WhatTheActualFreshHell: just go & don’t worry about it, honest mistake and unlikely to cause issues

I expect you were told to book named centre to manage numbers but I don’t think you alone will break the system..

WhatTheActualFreshHell · 16/02/2021 21:38

That's the conclusion I am coming to @10kaDay - to stop loads of people booking in at a preferred centre.

I shall be more careful when I'm doing things in future. 😬
