Vaccine-allergies

So, apart from the very first day of vaccines, when it was reported that 2 people had allergic reactions to the vaccine, I haven’t seen any other info.
I have allergies, penicillin, oral allergy syndrome and awful hay fever.
I wasn’t too concerned, but I just heard from 2 people I know that they are not having it because they are allergic to penicillin.
I just thought it meant that one particular vaccine was more suitable and they kept an eye on you afterwards.
Is there any official data?

How severe is the penicillin allergy?

Veuvestar · 16/02/2021 17:56

Not anaphylactic shock serious I don’t think. I came out in hives all over

But are there any more details on the allergic reactions? There must be more?

Neither vaccines have penicillin in them, family members are severely allergic to penicillin and had the Oxford jab the previous few weeks, having conducted lots of research, they were offered Oxford as it was the one available, they would have also taken the Pfizer

From what I've heard people are still having them with moderate allergy but not life threatening allergies.

I have autoimmune conditions and a penicillin allergy - horrific rash. I had Pfizer and I've been okay.

Might be wrong, but there isn't much about it, other than there were only 2 out of millions that were hospitalised.

I am allergic to penicillin and before the nice lady jabbed me in January she assured me it was OK. I did have to fill out a form and there were listed a few allergens (that I’d never heard of). I’m fine.

The official information is all on these pages:

www.gov.uk/government/publications/regulatory-approval-of-pfizer-biontech-vaccine-for-covid-19

www.gov.uk/government/publications/regulatory-approval-of-covid-19-vaccine-astrazeneca

Allergies, except to the vaccine ingredients, are no longer contraindications.
