Last January, before COVID, I booked a Hull to Rotterdam crossing to go for a week to Duinrell. The holiday site have me a refund when it became apparent, around April, that we weren't likely to be able to go. However P & O Ferries didn't have a human being to speak to, only a form you could fill in to as for a credit note to be used within a year of the original booking. This was fine when we thought we would be able to book for summer 2021, but given the current situation I emailed their customer services to enquire as to what will happen if we are unable to travel in 2021. They were very noncommittal and have replied saying we should wait until nearer the time.
This is over £1000 worth of credit note. We can't afford to lose it.
Anyone else in this situation?

I'm in the same boat (har de har), and await with interest what they're going to do.
I don't think I'm going in August, as planned, so might want a further credit...

Hmmm...I keep on getting emails from them talking about staycations, which new bit discharged they told me essentially to 'wait and see' regarding my £1k+ credit with them they are holding on to!

How did you pay? I'm in a similar situation but with tui for my summer holiday last year. They issued me a credit note but said if not used by a certain date (date has passed) they would just refund but they haven't and I can't get through to them.
I am attempting a chargeback now through the bank as it was my debit card I paid with but I think its easier to chargeback on a credit card.
Basically youve paid for a service and they haven't delivered it ( although not their fault) you are entitled to your money back.

Thanks for posting. I paid using my debit card. I would just like reassurance from them that we can leave it until next year maybe. A refund would be better!

Have you asked for a refund?

I’ve had credit offered to me re various things and always refused it and got a refund instead as there’s no guarantee you’ll even want to go to that specific event/travel with that company/be happy with their prices/attend a new date in the future. I certainly wouldn’t want £1k of my money sat in P&O’s bank account, knowing that I’m now tied to them and they could go bust. I’d want it sat in mine so I have control over what I use it for.

To my knowledge you booked a trip and they were unable to fulfil your booking so then owe you a refund.

I had similar with Euro Tunnel from last Easter - I kept changing the booking but I couldn't do this for 2021. I rang them and they refunded me the cost of the booking except for the dog part which they gave me a credit note for
