Scared that vaccination will get cancelled?

Seen on a thread that some people in group 6 were contacted Friday and told to book a vaccine, and have since had it cancelled.

It seems to be due to the asthma interpretation.

I had a text on Friday and vaccination booked for Wednesday.

I have asthma so thought that it could be because of that, but also I have BMI over 40.

I think my asthma Is the most likely reason because I don't trust the GP to have my weight up to date (although I did go in and get weighed in january)

I have anxiety any way but now I'm a bundle of nerves and just waiting to be told it's cancelled. I was so happy when I got that text and now I'm back to being scared again.

This rollercoaster feels never ending!

Your GP will have recorded your weight. Your weight will be more of a underlying health condition than your Asthma, so your appointment might not be cancelled. Even if it is, it'll only be weeks away. They are getting through the groups quickly.

I'm in my 30s so if I'm not included in group 6 it will be months.

I wouldn't normally question my GP practice competence the doctors are wonderful as are the nurses. The person who recorded my BMI seemed completely clueless. She forgot she needed my height as well as weight. I had to remind her (politely!)

Why would it be cancelled? They are having to be careful vaccinations don't ghetto wasted.

I had a call for one the next day just because I have had cancer in the past. My local authority had previously been criticised for throwing unused vaccines away. I felt like I had won the lottery and jus5 checked against counter indications with the caller.

Honestly try to go with the flo. If you don't get it try to think it might be prudent for you n some other way. But I think you willl get it. Smile

I'm only worried because apparently there's an area in Essex which has cancelled vaccines because of the asthma confusion.

I'm nowhere near there though, so here's hoping the north south divide continues a bit longer!

Try to distract yourself op. There's no point worrying. But I think you will get it.

You’re eligible because of your BMI on its own so you’ll be fine don’t worry. If they do cancel (because they didn’t record your BMI correctly) you can always challenge it because you are definitely eligible.

People with asthma that doesn’t meet the incredibly tight criteria won’t unfortunately be able to challenge any cancellation.

I feel for you, I'm asthmatic too and feeling really stressed by the constant changing of the guidelines (after a year of being told that we are clinically vulnerable, now suddenly we're not Confused). Asthmatics know what it feels like to struggle for breath, and the idea of getting covid is frightening Sad.

If you have the vaccine booked already then I would think you will be fine. They are unlikely to cancel booked appointments as they may struggle to fill them at short notice and end up wasting vaccines.
