Should I have been contacted by test and trace??

I work in a school and we had a positive case early in the week. I identified myself as a close contact and was told by the school to self-isolate. Are schools basically doing 'NHS' Test and Trace's job for them? I thought they would have been in touch by now. I also have the phone app but nothing from that either.

It would depend on what the school had told track & trace. If you had been with them for more than 15, wearing ppe etc.

Or not necessarily the school but whoever tested positive.

When a teacher tested positive at our school the school informed everyone. We had no other contact apart from the school who sent an official letter.

Thanks for the replies. Interesting. Everyone connected to the school was told, some children were told by the school to isolate and some staff. I don't know why, I just thought I'd hear from Track and Trace, as a staff member, but presumably I was wrong.

No, because they would ask for name, address and telephone number. The parent of the pupil wouldn't have that. So yes, the schools would do the contact tracing within the school.

Mayne the school is working with test and trace and the school is guided by what they say.

The school are the same as test and trace as they work as part of public health England guidance. You therefore just go on their advice and don't need to hear from test and true

In Wales schools have letters from the Track and Trace service ready to send to the parents or staff members when a child or staff member tests positive. My child got an email from school but track and trace didn't contact us.
