False negative? Or Sertraline side effects

So I had I’ve had a cold for just over three weeks, it started off as very mild sneezing and runny nose, more like mild hayfever than a cold really...three days later I had a rapid-test at a local testing centre as my neighbour tested positive with no symptoms, our front doors are right next to each other etc so it was a slight possibility I’d could have caught it. Test was negative as I expected it to be. Since then cold has been on and off, very much like an allergy and not even a cold really, no headache, fever, sore throat, nothing. Just lots and lots of sneezing, runny nose...Last Fri, two weeks after it started, I lost my sense of smell so I went for another test - negative. As this week has gone on my sinuses have become more and more blocked - so uncomfortable. Smell is on and off, mainly off.

I feel like a total idiot, I went to the chemists today to ask for advice as I thought it might be a side effect of some other medication I’m taking (Sertraline) as one of the side effects is apparently cold symptoms and the pharmacist thought it might actually be corona!....I feel awful, I should never have gone to the chemists could i have been spreading this around for three weeks 🤦🏻‍♀️ Of course I will retest ASAP.

No-one else in the family has been ill, just me.

I do have lots of allergy probs (although not in winter) and my sinuses are my weakness. Has anyone had similar side effects from Sertraline? I’m about 9 weeks in.

We're both tests lateral flow (fast tests)? My lateral flow was negative the same day I got a positive PCR test, and I'm now fairly rough so definitely a current infection.

As above. Hopefully you did get a PCR test since you got covid symptoms (loss of taste) ?

Incyra · 14/02/2021 06:25

I'd get a PCR test sent. We have the LFT and PCR and it has picked up positives on PCR that were negative on the LFT.

SneezyGonzalez · 14/02/2021 07:58

First test was LFT, second PCR. Will book another test.

Hope you’re feeling better soon Boarderscotch x

Doesn’t sound like Sertraline side effects to me.
