Over 65s booking online

I might be behind the times but does everyone know that over 65s can book online via the NHS website For the vaccine? It was over 70s only earlier this week.

Yes, my 67yo DM is having hers this weekend. She couldn’t have clicked fast enough when the text arrived. So thrilled that they’re progressing down the lists so efficiently. Amazing job by the NHS.

Thanks for the tip - passed the link to my ex (father of my kids) and he booked in for Monday! Incredible!

Great news for sharing. Bumping the thread for others. Link here:

Glad people are sharing. More people filling slots the better!

can you book online if you're group 6, or is that purely up to GPs? I've had a text from GP, but they have no available slots at the moment. I wonder how they will let the national booking centre know who is eligible for group 6 bookings, or that is never going to happen and the national centres are always going to be only age-based.

SerenadeOfTheSchoolRun · 13/02/2021 20:38

I think the gp records are linked. Group 4 extremely clinically vulnerable people could book online. Some areas are ahead of others so I think it is worth trying if you are in group 6.

SerenadeOfTheSchoolRun · 13/02/2021 20:38

If you are not eligible for the link then it will tell you so.

Thimbleberries · 13/02/2021 21:08

So far it tells me I'm not eligible. I just have the Gp link for their clicks, which are sporadic. I wondered if I'd have more choice of locations/vaccine if I used the notional service, but I'm not eligible there yet. I have a feeling only GPs might be doing group 6 right now

Thimbleberries · 13/02/2021 21:08

Clinics not clicks!

SerenadeOfTheSchoolRun · 15/02/2021 17:17

They have just said on the briefing that group 6 will be via the GPs and group 5 via the online booking system and hubs and pharmacies.

SimplyGrateful · 15/02/2021 17:28

Unfortunately, not all GPs are offering the COVID vaccination. At least that’s what I was told when I had my flu jab a few days ago. So I am in group 6 and pretty desperate to get the jab, but it appears I have no options to book myself in.

I’ve already been in hospital with COVID and I really don’t want a repeat performance!

Camomila · 15/02/2021 20:02

My mum got a letter in the post today...she's not 65 until next month. She hasn't tried the link yet because she'd rather do it at the gps than the regional hub.

SerenadeOfTheSchoolRun · 23/02/2021 08:34

It’s quoting 64 and under today on the national site, small steps 😀

SerenadeOfTheSchoolRun · 23/02/2021 08:36

Sorry of course 64 and over

thereinmadnesslies · 23/02/2021 08:39

Thanks for the info re over 64s - DH (age 64) is now booked in which is a bit of a relief because he’s a teacher and will be crammed into an unventilated classroom with lots of kids from 8 March.

RightMovesAlong · 23/02/2021 08:42

It works in one of two ways @Teachermum4

1 An NHS letter asking you to log-in online and book an appt (though the downside is you may be asked to go to a centre a long way from home.)

2 A phone call from your GP inviting you to a local centre.

In my case, I had a call from the GP practice giving me a date and time. It was done in my town by another GP practice which was acting as a vaccination 'hub' for the town.

A few days later (of course!) I received an NHS letter asking me to book online IF I'd not already been contacted by the GP.

In my county, they are ahead of schedule with jabs so I was invited before the official starting date for my age.

It's not like that everywhere.

I have a sibling now being jabbed this week and they are in their mid-50s with no risk factors, just their county is ahead of the game too.

vcrees6 · 23/02/2021 16:39

Ah brilliant, thanks for the tip that 64 plus can now book- just booked my dad in!

cockneygurl · 23/02/2021 18:07

I think the text on the front page is out of date. My parents aged 60 & 61 booked in today using the link. They are simply being done by age as no underlying conditions etc.

SerenadeOfTheSchoolRun · 23/02/2021 18:12

I think it varies by area and they are sending out letters to younger people in some places so worth checking but the number on the front page applies to all of England.
