Dad on ventilator 🙁

My dad tested positive just over a week ago, taken to hospital on Thursday and put on a ventilator on Monday ☹️ He’s a strong, fit man with no health issues. He is however in his early 70’s. So scared, and can’t visit my mum as it’s too far to travel & classed as non essential.
Guess I’m just hoping for some positive stories x

Sorry about your dad. I’d definitely go to my mum in that situation though!

Ahh - totally get your predicament then. Hope your dad has a good day and that your sister can get to your mum. Such tough times.

@Coldwinterahead1 he hasn’t had his vaccine yet, should’ve had it this week.

I’m thinking of you. Remember only physically strong people are put on ventilators. They don’t pit people one ventilators if there is not a good chance they will survive.

Sorry to hear about your dad. My friends dad is also on a ventilator. He is early 60s with COPD. He is making good improvements! I hope your dad will be okay

Thinking of you OP. I worked on a Covid ward until early December & totally agree that only those thought strong enough to stand a good chance are placed on a ventilator.

There have been lots of patients making a good recovery & going home. The media does tend to concentrate on those who don’t, understandably I suppose.

I’m not trying to make light of the situation OP, but there is hope. I will hope & pray that your DDad is one of the happy outcomes.

I would also consider a visit to your mum in these circumstances an essential journey. Although as a Police Officer I guess you would know the law on that better than me .

I hope your dad's doing ok. My friend's brother was on a ventilator last week, it was looking very bad for him. This week he's home!

Sadly I know three people who've died of Covid. None of them went near a ventilator as it wasn't felt to be in their best interests, so if your dad is on one, there must be hope he'll come back off it.

But I do appreciate that it's a horrible time for all of you.

@CoffeeRunner that’s good to hear, and I am definitely tempted to go and see my mum, it’s just the repercussions if I did. FaceTime is a godsend, also means my little girl gets to wave at her gran.
