What happens if you have a high temp when visiting the GP? Can they stop you from entering if you have no other covid symptoms?

My gp still let me in with a temp I had a suspected post op infection from neurosurgery, this was at the start of Jan. The infection was confirmed when physically seen

Recently my daughter had a blatant ear infection gunk was pouring out of her ears.
Because she had a temp she was not allowed to be seen. They sent her to the local out of hours and they wouldn't let her in there either but a lady came out and had a look with the oscilloscope outside (which was really painful for her because it was super windy. They faxed the prescription over to the pharmacy then.
It was utter madness when it was clear it was a childhood ear infection.

Our GP hasn't seen any of my family face to face since last March despite me recovering from major surgery. They have attempted to do it all over the phone
