What do we think?

Update about boarders? I'm almost missing when it was leaked in the day and we knew in advance! :D

Borders or boarders?

TryingNotToPanicOverCovid · 10/02/2021 14:19

D'oh. In my defense I've just read a boarding school thread....

What can he say that hasn't already been said or reported on already?
People that can afford to take a holiday or business trip abroad will have to isolate when they get back and pay for it themselves etc etc.
schools might be mentioned ?
We know that the vaccine roll out is going ok so far : the weather might hold it up , but nobody can blame Boris for that one! The press will ask ' when can we go back to normal ' ? and receive the usual ' we don't really know' answers. Unless it's something big I can't see this being much different to the usual news reports really.

TryingNotToPanicOverCovid · 10/02/2021 14:51

I assume there really can't be anything different to say! It came up on the BBC as "breaking news" but not convinced!

If schools are mentioned I imagine that would be a bigger deal? Everyone's waiting for that one.

Is it 5pm? Thanks

I think it will just be the borders update.

the80sweregreat · 10/02/2021 14:57

They said , initially , that schools would receive two weeks notice of opening up fully before the 8th March so I doubt it's anything to do with schools but who knows?

AuntieStella · 10/02/2021 15:00

It might be an early heads up on whether an announcement in 2 weeks on schools re-opening (partly or fully) is still on track

But with all the kerfuffle about flooding more areas with tests, I'm wondering if it will be about new variants, vaccines and autumn boosters

User7458 · 10/02/2021 15:04

Whatever it is it won't be very clear

the80sweregreat · 10/02/2021 15:09

Dh and I are in our mid fifties and hope to be vaccinated by April or May time. When they talk about boosters on the news we just laugh and say ' we haven't had the first one yet!'
It'll happen eventually. Even with the vaccine we will still have restrictions in place for ages I think. We are not going back to ' normal ' for a long time yet , is my opinion anyway :(

like most people I am concerned for the economy and my friends who are self employed who are struggling and who are seeing their livelihoods destroyed by all this. It is so sad.

AuntieStella · 10/02/2021 15:52

It might be not much of anything, just part of the updates (we get 2 or 3 a weeks these days, don't we?) and if we have Boris today he can then dip out until the 22nd

RuleWithAWoodenFoot · 10/02/2021 16:48

They said , initially , that schools would receive two weeks notice of opening up fully before the 8th March

They didn't say that at all, nothing about fully or 'before' the 8th March. Spreading disinformation just stirs up aggro.

we hope it will be safe to commence the reopening of schools from Monday 8 March If we achieve our target of vaccinating everyone in the four most vulnerable groups with their first dose by 15 February

TryingNotToPanicOverCovid · 10/02/2021 17:19

Just standard waffle.

They look like they’ve had a tiff before going on air.

TryingNotToPanicOverCovid · 10/02/2021 17:26

"You need to unmute" classic.

Could see the previous journalist trying to argue back that Boris wasn't answering about summer!

@the80sweregreat

They said , initially , that schools would receive two weeks notice of opening up fully before the 8th March so I doubt it's anything to do with schools but who knows?
Incorrect.

They said that they would get schools two weeks notice of when they are expected to open. They then also said that this would not be before 8th March and this was the earliest possible date but this was not set in stone as a definite reopening date.

The reopening would be decided according to certain criteria they intend to lay out on Feb 22nd.
