Vaccine help

I’ve also put this in scotsnet as we’re in Scotland but might be someone who can help here.

Daughter is clinically extremely vulnerable and on shielding list.

Received vaccination appointment for this week.

Today received a letter saying appointment was a mistake, vaccine isn’t being offered to under 16s so they’ve cancelled her appointment.

But she’s 17! Trying to get anyone to help is impossible. GP says just to turn up. But phoning vaccine centre they have no record of her CHI number.

It’s a shambles and no one knows what to do.

Has anyone experienced this?

Just turn up with original appointment confirmation, NHS number and photo ID.

I agree. All information previous poster stated. Plus proof of age

If that doesn't work then back to your doctor's for help

That’s the plan!

I’ve been told though the the AZ vaccine isn’t licensed for U18s only the Pfizer one is ok.

Yes she needs to get a Pfizer appointment probably at a hospital but her GP needs to sort this out. Better than he or she has. The vaccine centre may only have AZ.

GP have been shit. We had to battle to get her on the shielding list despite her consultants saying she should be.

Can you call her consultant?
I would definitely turn up for the appointment with proof of age and take letter with you.
I work at one of the Scottish vaccine hubs, and wouldn't have a problem vaccinating your daughter. We have supplies of both AZ and Pfizer.

Thanks. Will see what happens on Thursday and take it from there.

It’s just frustrating. She’s really struggled emotionally through lockdown and this felt like a little bit of hope.
