Do I go for the jab?

I’m a bit confused, I’m not in any of the groups currently being Vaccinated and don’t work with anyone vulnerable. But I had an email and text from my GP (I use virtually, an NHS run online GP service, if that’s relevant) asking me to book my jab in. I followed the link and it looks legitimate- didn’t ask me for any personal info or money though. But I’m not sure if a) it’s legit and b) if it is I should book and go. I’m staying at my partners currently so i’d have to get the train & a tube to get the to surgery. I’m not even sure if that breaks the lockdown rules.

I’m worried if it is legit and I don’t book I’ll go right to the bottom of the list/not be offered it in my correct group.

Ring the doctors and check with them.

Then call and ask them to clarify and see if they’ve made a mistake surely Hmm

Only the GP surgery can tell you if it’s genuine

Should have added I’ve been trying to get through to the doctors all morning but can’t get through. I’ll keep trying I guess

Am sure email was mentioned as not be one of ways you be contacted.

I’d happily be corrected if am wrong.

Lynora · 09/02/2021 11:01

Perhaps they are going down the list due to no shows or have vaccinated all in the top groups?

SqeakyHindge · 09/02/2021 11:02

Oops sorry I missed you got text also.

Jijithecat · 09/02/2021 11:08

Is the email personally addressed to you? If it says Dear 'your name', then it's more likely to be legit. Also have a look at the email address that it came from, that should give you an idea too.

Thenthatsthatthen · 09/02/2021 11:15

@SqeakyHindge I head that to. The email came through yesterday but I only had a text this morning. I’m on hold to the gp now

Does the link take you to a site that says “powered by accurx” with a greenish coloured banner at the top? That’s the booking system we’re using.

Peridot1 · 09/02/2021 11:21

I got an email asking me to book too. I looked at the actual email address it was from and it’s apparently from ‘scoveny@....”. He’s an Irish politician so unlikely to be sending nhs booking emails! It was actually a pretty obvious fake.

Thenthatsthatthen · 09/02/2021 11:22

The email was addressed to me. I did think because I use an online GP that might be why I got an email. I followed the link on the text message though and it has the green banner. It looks legitimate and I can’t see what value it would have as a scam as they didn’t ask for any data or money. Number 10 in line for the GP.

Got through and the receptionist said the text message was defiantly sent from them so as far as she can tell it’s legitimate. She also said she’s had 7 other people call with the same query this morning and it’s best to take it as there’s not been any guidance on what will happen if I refuse it now and want it later. It feels a bit wrong accepting it though.

Glad you got through.

Take the vaccine, they will be working through priority list and so on. Not everyone wants or can have it and they would of been allocated stock.

Not sure when our GP’s be offering vaccines as we one of many smaller villages that surround big mains town. I know we’ve had shout out anyone now 50+ to phone gp if haven’t been contacted.
