Extended households?

Are extended households different to a support bubble?

What is the difference between the two?

Bubble is a technical term permitted in certain circs
Extended household can be same in Scottish terms

I would have that an extended household is where dependent children go between households?

Wingingit15 · 07/02/2021 14:51

It also seems to be a more “informal” setup here whereby people choose to merge households outside the support exemptions

Extended households are what scotland calls a bubble

Scottishskifun · 07/02/2021 14:58

Extended households is a Scottish term we don't have the same support bubble elements that England does. The rules are broadly similar but a few differences.
Informal childcare for example in Scotland currently (as tier 4) is supposed to be only children allowed inside the house of person providing informal childcare. We don't have childcare bubbles.

Children under 12 also don't count in numbers in Scotland so it's possible to meet one other adult with children under 12.
