Those of you "clinically extremely vulnerable" vaccinated yet?

Gcnq · 06/02/2021 08:30

Hi DH is clinically extremely vulnerable so we're expecting his vaccine appointment this month according to gov announcements.
It seems everyone has had theirs including my Dad (72) my mate and neighbor, etc,

We haven't heard anything yet! Should we be worried? Letter could have got lost in the post we'd have no idea.

I'm not because of allergies and so I csnt be but I have been offered it - bout 3 weeks ago now!

Rillington · 06/02/2021 08:33

Yes last week. He should be able to book on the government site. Just Google Book Covid Vaccination.

HunterHearstHelmsley · 06/02/2021 08:33

My DF is and had his last week.

Frownette · 06/02/2021 08:35

@RosesAndLemonade which allergies do you have?

A friend who is CEV hasn't had it yet but has been told he will be soon.

TingTastic · 06/02/2021 08:35

Yes, he should have been offered it by now. See if he can book himself on the NHS website.

Who did the shielding letter come from - GP or hospital consultant?

BunsyGirl · 06/02/2021 08:37

My GP practice (which is in a consortium with 4 others) have confirmed that they have almost finished all of groups 1-4. They post regular updates on their Facebook page. I would check whether your GP practice has a Facebook page or website where they post updates regarding vaccinations as this may give you a better indication of what is happening in your area.

BusMum79 · 06/02/2021 08:39

Yes I had mine last Saturday. I was contacted by the hospital directly, but then this week got a letter from the NHS about how to book online if I hadn’t been called yet. As a PP said, you can just Google book Covid vaccine, I think - and all you need is your NHS number. You can then book if you’ve been identified as CEV etc. I had to take my shielding letter to the hospital as proof, so worth having it to hand as well. Good luck

I have too many to list and they're not actually defined which is the problem. I react randomly and extremely severely (as in hospital worthy and a few would now be fatal if I took the thing again) to so many things, that I am currently in hospital with a flare of one of my illnesses, which we can't actually treat with the available meds such is the risk of how I react. Therefore I am not able to have any covid vaccines, or any future ones.
Sorry if I'm sounding arsey but I've been asked this constantly on MN and then people like to then tell me actually I could have it because their friend did and didn't die.... So I'm just wanting to cover all bases now that I very genuinely, cannot have any covid vaccine!

DinosaurDiana · 06/02/2021 08:41

Over 70’s can book themselves now.
If you’re concerned that you’ve been missed out, email the surgery and ask if the CEV are being done yet as you haven’t heard. Go with a general email rather than one specific to your DH.
I am definitely doing them where I work.

Frownette · 06/02/2021 08:43

@RosesAndLemonade sorry, I didn't realise you'd been asked loads before! Must be a bit stressful, hope you recover from flare up soon.

DinosaurDiana · 06/02/2021 08:43

Do they have your correct phone number ?
I was doing home visits last week and the GP surgery had rung them a couple of times, no answer. When I turned up unexpected it turns out they had changed their number and informed the GP 🙄

Ah no it's fine. I just thought I'd explain it now before it gets asked again!!! I'm just a medical freak. But yes getting better would be nice.

As for OP - it is different in different areas so maybe where you are is slower ? Worth checking though

SimonJT · 06/02/2021 08:45

I was meant to have mine Monday just gone, but I caught covid a week before. I’ve had my appointment rescheduled to take into the account the time that needs to pass after having covid before you can then be vaccinated.

Kazzyhoward · 06/02/2021 08:46
My OH is CEV (received the shielding letters etc) but received nothing from GP re testing. Tried the booking website last night but it says he's not eligible yet. So not all areas are onto the cev yet.
EveryDayIsADuvetDay · 06/02/2021 08:48

I've been invited to get vaccinated, but I have to wait 28 days from testing positive, so next week.

I was discussing it with a friend on the phone and was horrified to hear that her father hadn't been contacted - he is 90+ and CEV for several reasons. A relative of them both works in a hospital and arranged for him to be added to an "overflow" list to use up excess vaccine, so he had it that way.
I have no confidence that this will have been notified to the central service or his GP.

IthinkIm · 06/02/2021 08:49

Book him online if you can. Don't wait for a letter.

The vaccination goes straight onto the computer system EMIS, so the GP knows the instant that you have had it.
hamstersarse · 06/02/2021 08:52

Friend CEV had it last week

StylishMummy · 06/02/2021 08:53

I had mine done on 23 January (west Midlands)

MadisonAvenue · 06/02/2021 08:54

www.nhs.uk/conditions/coronavirus-covid-19/coronavirus-vaccination/book-coronavirus-vaccination/

Scroll down to the green Book My Appointments option, go through to the page where you enter the NHS number and if your husband has had a letter generated (it doesn’t have to have been received, just generated) you’ll be able to enter your postcode and you’ll be given a list of nearby vaccination sites.

Rainbowqueeen · 06/02/2021 08:54

Follow the link posted above. If you are eligible it will work. Don’t wait for the letter

MadisonAvenue · 06/02/2021 08:55

Btw, I have mine booked for this evening.

SquigglePigs · 06/02/2021 08:56

One of my friends has, the other is booked in next week. I think different areas are at different stages in how fast they're getting through people, particularly if they have an older demographic.

FlatteredRhubardFool · 06/02/2021 09:03

I'm CEV and having mine today. I'm in greater Manchester (sort of). Godmother had hers last week. She's 75. Mum had her's the week before that. She's 81.
