Delayed reaction to Pfizer jab

SaraJS216 · 05/02/2021 20:23

I had my first jab 9 days ago and other than a slight headache the next day, I felt fine.
Since then I've had a bruise at the injection site, however today my arm has a raised red lump on it that's a bit sore and hot. I felt really sick with a headache yesterday which I suppose could be related.
I called the GP who said it's likely a delayed reaction. Just wanted to ask whether anyone else has experienced this and if so how long it lasted for?

Not with that jab, but I used to have a regular jab for an allergy and mine always, always raised up like that. And was hot and itchy.

Do you have some anti-histamine? That would help it.

I had this same reaction to the last flu jab when I was pregnant but it appeared the day after the jab. It went after 4-5 days. Everyone was shocked at how big the area was!

Muchtoomuchtodo · 05/02/2021 21:41

No, but I still have a scab from my 2020 flu jab that I had in October.

First time that’s ever happened for me.

nonamehere · 05/02/2021 21:51

Yes, SaraJS216 I had the same sore arm as you, also at day 9. No headache though. I happened to be volunteering at the vaccination centre the next day so mentioned it to the doctor. She checked it didn't look infected, then said it was just the vaccine working - in fact working extra well! It went down over the next 2 or 3 days.

DS got this with his last men B vaccination. The doctor said it would go down with time but it left a bruise for a good few months.

I saw an article in daily mail about moderna vaccine yesterday with similar photos. Seemed fairly common.

OverTheRainbow88 · 06/02/2021 07:32

I get that every year with the flu jab.

A colleague had the same huge red raised lump and headache and severe vomiting several days after first dose of Pfizer
She ended up going to hospital

BaggoMcoys · 06/02/2021 07:36

A relative of mine had a reaction similar to yours. It went down by itself within a couple of days, just as she was starting to think about seeing the gp.

ILookAtTheFloor · 06/02/2021 07:41

I know this is common with the Moderna vaccine as there's been stories of it in the US, as someone has said above.
For those people it lasted about a week before fading.

I’ve definitely heard of this happening. I had the glands come up in my armpits and get really sore a week later. I had the headache and nausea too.

StylishMummy · 06/02/2021 08:50

I've had the same. Pfizer have a vaccine side effects webpage where you can log it which will help them to understand how many 'real' people this has happened to
