Could anyone enlighten me please?

If effiacy of the AstraZeneca vaccine is 62% after 22 days do we have any protection at all from say 7 days or 14 days?
I apologise for my ignorance but surely leading up to these 22 days our protection is mounting all the time?

No because it physically takes your body three weeks or so to develop the lymphocytes. And they don't work till they're fully developed.

Similar to an egg or sperm cell - your chances of getting pregnant don't increase day by day throughout your cycle as the egg develops - it suddenly leaps from 0% chance to x% chance once the egg is fully grown.
