Vaccines for council workers

Are council workers being vaccinated in your area?
My local council admitted vaccinating 51 maintenance workers as ‘they have to enter people’s homes’. I was irritated by this as there are many trades the have to work in people’s homes that won’t get a priority vaccine because their employer is not my local council! Pest controllers, gas man, electrician, plumbers and so on... but whatever, I guess any person getting a vaccine brings us one step closer to normal...

But today it came to light that office staff are also getting vaccinated! Actual booked appointments not just turning up for the left overs at the end of the shift. I think this is pretty shocking when the list of others like bus drivers, shop workers, childminders, bank staff and so on aren’t a priority for the vaccine or the hoards of other office workers who aren’t working from home but whose employer doesn’t happen to be the council!

Is this just my council or is this happening everywhere?

But they do still exist - I work in one, and as @Boulshired said, our maintenance is also carried out by our in-house teams.

We still have a few, as well as care homes for dementia, physical disabilities and for adults with learning disabilities.

That sounds like nonsense, are you sure this is factual? I would very much doubt it is. Only frontline council workers (e.g. health & social care staff) here.

I haven't hear of this locally, but as others have said - they won't necessarily advertise it!

I have to say that I agree with this. I haven't heard of anyone that isn't front line in some way having the vaccine. Unlike the flu vaccine, where staff at our City Hall all had flu vaccines at drop-in clinics there, and us front-line staff were left trying to get ours with vouchers at supermarkets.

I honestly dont care who is vaccinated. Every little helps.
Im group 6 and massively impatient for mine, but keep 'em coming, more the merrier

Toorapid · 04/02/2021 20:16

I think people are getting them because the links allowing frontline health and social care workers to book are being shared, but not officially.
