I know this is going to sound harsh but hear me out.

A friend the entire time has gone on how 'pathetic' the Lockdowns are. She refuses to follow news and updates. Has never watched one

Refuses to wear a mask as makes her sweaty.
In and out of people's houses.
Pops to bm for a browse as 'there's fuck all else to do'
You name it every rule broken. Get my drift

Anyway she was even due to sheild due to diabetes which she makes zero attempt to control and as a result is verging moribildy obese.
She refused to sheild as why should she? Why should her dc have to play in the garden (her garden is truly amazing for children too)
Why can't she go to asda with her dh and kids like normal
Why should she have to do home delivery

She's just had all over fb how she's rang the gp and she's booked jab for next week due diabetes being vulnerable. And she didn't even know there was a vaccine until one of her other mates mentioned it last week!
She's said how she's getting the jab and SD can sod off and she'll do as she pleases (which she has all along)

I just think there is more deserving people of it.

I cannot emphasise enough how she hasn't cared throughout this entire thing.

BTW I'm not jealous or anything I'm lucky enough be healthy and wait my turn for the jab. But when there are people who this is affecting

Sorry I'm ranting

I'm with wonderstuff. get her vaccinated first to stop her infecting the rest of us, annoying as that feels in itself.

tatutata · 03/02/2021 18:08

Think you're not really a great friend tbh
The flipside of what you're saying is if she died it would serve her right. She deserves the vaccine as much as we all do, regardless of our views or behaviour.

tatutata · 03/02/2021 18:11

@inquietant haha yeah. Alcoholics with liver disease, nah, off you pop. Fat people with heart disease... Quickly goes somewhere bad.

Embarrasedaf · 03/02/2021 18:14

Who cares? We’re all going to be vaccinated eventually.

I’m healthy and in early 20s so literally at the back of the queue to be vaccinated, guess what? I’m not fussed. I’d rather be healthy than have a health issue making me more susceptible to serious illness.

Your friend clearly needs the vaccine, both because of her health issues and because she’s playing with fire and potentially increasing the risk she catches the virus and becomes ill. Yes, to a certain extent she could minimise her risk but I’m not going to begrudge her having a vaccination. Less strain on the NHS long term, no?

SpnBaby1967 · 03/02/2021 18:25

Well OP, arent you just a delightful person!

Luckily we dont provide medical care only to those who is determined as deserving. However I will say she certainly doesnt deserve a judgemental cockwomble of a friend like you.

Defenbaker · 03/02/2021 18:34

@inquietant Well, that was pretty daft of him, but I guess it's a hard habit to break, when you're a politician, as meeting people with a friendly handshake is pretty much part of the job. He was careless but paid the price for it. I think he learned the hard way, and he seems to just touch elbows with people now.

Glitterblue · 03/02/2021 19:12

For some reason, I always feel mildly irritated at the mention of something being put "all over Facebook" when someone puts up a status about something!

namechangetheworld · 03/02/2021 19:27

Of course posters are rushing to defend the thick arsehole who has been putting everybody she comes into contact with at risk Hmm Not sure why the OP is getting so much flack, I'd judge the shit out of anybody as selfish as this, and certainly wouldn't be remaining friends with her.

Iremembertheelderlykoreanlady · 03/02/2021 19:28

Diabetics are group 6.

A) they were not asked to shield unless they had another condition which put them in CEV category

B) group 6 are not eligible for vaccines yet.

So she's lying about something

ragged · 03/02/2021 19:29

I tend to count myself as a lockdown skeptic... I planned not to get vaccine. Does that make you happy, OP? Will the world be a better place for it?
