Hi , a friend had the second Pfizer vaccine last Sunday was perfectly fine after the first one but has had side effects from the second
On Monday the chills , bit of a headache generally flu like symptoms which has passed but there’s a slight rash on the upper arm which weirdly is below the injection sight , she also had itchiness on Monday night my friend took a Periton last night which has got rid of the itching but the redness on the arm is still there it’s not severe & she doesn’t feel ill in fact much better today .

Not to be mean but I'm struggling to find what the issue is? Your friend is fine. There's nothing abnormal at all in what you've said.

DoctorYang · 03/02/2021 08:46

Normal side effects that are mentioned in the information leaflet she would have been given.

CaptainMyCaptain · 03/02/2021 08:46

My husband had similar after the second dose, it only lasted 24 hours. He just took a paracetamol and had an early night, no drama.

nevertakeabreak · 03/02/2021 08:49

That's all normal

Applejack87 · 03/02/2021 09:24

Thankyou all for your replies , that’s reassuring to hear .

I had the Pfizer vaccine the other day. I wasn't given any information leaflet nor was I told anything about possible side effects. Just a card with the date and batch number.

Maybe OPs friend wasn't informed about these things either.

My doctor friend was feverish and ill in bed for a week after his first dose, none of his colleagues had anything like that reaction. He’d rather that than COVID though!

If a whole week is he sure that wasn't actually covid? As in he caught it just before or after jab. Did he go for a test?

Is this just a post to make people anxious about the vaccine and side effects? One of those stealth anti-vaccine posts? Because there is literally nothing in this worthy of taking to the internet about Confused

We were talking about this at work (hospital) second dose is known to give worse side effect. They were suggesting not everyone from one ward getting the second dose on the same day as that happened somewhere and 4 of them were unable to work the next day. My first dose I had a headake and muscle pain from midday the following day but not bad enough to stop me working. Not looking forward to the second one.

anotherlongwalk · 03/02/2021 10:01

Oh I've just started a thread on side effects as I didn't see this one! I'll ask for mine to be deleted! I'm very very tired following my Pfizer jab, could literally fall asleep on the spot I'm standing on!

Sillyduckseverywhere · 03/02/2021 10:08

I've had both jabs.
Zero side effects for both.
Slight ache at injection site, but I get that with all jabs.

doireallyneedaname · 03/02/2021 10:12

Normal. I had a 2/3 inch raised red and itchy patch from the flu jab that lasted about 4 days! Nobody I knew had seen it that extreme before but it went away and that was that.

I have heard the 2nd Pfizer dose can give you some side effects like fatigue, headache etc. Not a big deal, don’t worry.

You might be right, I've just googled "pfizer side effects mumsnet" and there are pages and pages of results, it does seem a bit suss to start a thread when you could easily have found the information.
rainbowunicorn · 03/02/2021 10:29

Is there a point to this thread?

unchienandalusia · 03/02/2021 10:29

And?

LeaveMyDamnJam · 03/02/2021 10:29

I’m failing to see the point of this thread 🤔

LouiseBelchersBunnyEars · 03/02/2021 10:31

I think it’s normal.
Apparently you’re more likely to see side effects with first dose of Oxford, and with the second dose of Pfizer, so this is in line with that

Wellthatsit · 03/02/2021 11:01

There seems to be a lot of variety regarding side effects. Probably the same as taking any medication or drug. Some people will tolerate it better than others.

I take medication for a condition I have. Have been on three different drugs over the last ten years. First one, had initial side effects but they settled quickly but had longer term injection site reactions. Second drug I didn't tolerate well at all and got liver problems so had to stop immediately. Third drug, no problems whatsoever, even though it is arguably the strongest/most likely to create serious problems.

Everyone is different, and side effects happen. There is a tiny risk of serious reactions for a very few people. All other effects are manageable.

Try not to worry - it usually makes things feel worse.
