Track and trace - is this right!

My partner has tested positive for COVID, when track and trace phoned him he didn't give my name as we live together. However I'm going to need to isolate and inform my work but I haven't got a track and trace notification as he didn't think he had to give me? Which I'm not sure if he did or not, but now don't know what to do if my work ask for proof of a track and trace text which I obv don't have. Do you have to give details of your household or no as it's a given you've been in contact with them?

Would proof of his positive test result not be sufficient?

This is where the problem is he has an old iPhone with no memory so he has to delete texts after he's read them as he has no storage, it's the Bain of my life I'm always telling him to upgrade his phone 🙄 He didn't think he needed it as he works from home and his symptoms are mild so he is still able to work so isn't taking time off. pain in the arse!!

Did he not get an email? I got a text and email with my results x

He didn't give his email when he booked the test just his phone number, he's such a donut honestly 🤷🏼‍♀️🤷🏼‍♀️

SMS texts take up a trivial amount of memory. Trivial. He should delete an app he doesn't need. That would make room for thousands and thousands of texts that could be kept indefinitely.

Ostryga · 03/02/2021 06:34

Even with the oldest iPhones deleting messages wouldn’t give any extra space, so that’s bull. He can also pay 89p a month for cloud storage.

Get him to phone track and trace and give your details.

Chunkymenrock · 03/02/2021 06:37

(Just to say it's TEST and Trace. Track and Trace is a post office service.)

Ostryga · 03/02/2021 06:39

Haha yeah don’t phone the post office, that won’t help.

WhoseThatGirl · 03/02/2021 06:40

The deleted message is probably still on his phone in the ‘trash’ or similar.

JaimeLeeCurtains · 03/02/2021 06:47

That's rubbish about his having to delete texts immediately after reading them. I wonder why he's got you believing that?

So he has no proof of having had a positive test at all? Hmm

He'll have to ring them in front of you to sort this out, as pp have said.

ZoBo123 · 03/02/2021 07:05

When you get a positive there is a link to follow and it asks you information. One of the questions is all the people you live with and their details. He may be able to go back in there and update the details. T and T will ring today anyway. I think they ring on the 1st day and then every other day after

goatsgalore · 03/02/2021 07:07

So he didn't give the persons details that he lives with.... who else has he negated to tell them about?

GuppytheCat · 03/02/2021 07:08

Are you sure he’s positive? Seems a strange list of improbable reasons why he can’t possibly have any proof to show anyone.

noideabutstilltrying · 03/02/2021 07:09

If you call 191 they can give you advice. There is also an isolate letter you can get on line which you can provide to employers.

ChristmasCovid · 03/02/2021 07:33

Hi it’s 119 to call for advice.
If he’s filled his details in online and submitted it he won’t be able to change it.
One of the questions asks you to list everybody you live with + it also asks them to confirm that they accept responsibility to inform household contacts of the need to isolate.
When you test positive you get lots of texts from T&T has he not got any of them?
T&T also provide welfare calls on day 4, 7 & 10 but not sure if you can add contacts then?
It’s really clear when you do it that you need to list household contacts, have you seen his positive result? Did he email it to his works can he check his outbox?

ChristmasCovid · 03/02/2021 07:37

Sorry I see t&t phoned for the contact details because he hadn’t filled in online, it’s very clear they do ask you to list everyone who you live with...did he say he lives alone?

kb16 · 03/02/2021 08:20

He is defo positive I have seen the text. He has no apps on his phone it's all mainly pictures, he deletes any texts and email just for any extra storage. He does pay 79p to Apple but this phone is literally 8gb and he has thousands of pictures of our kids.
He hasn't had a text from track and trace just the positive text then a phone call, which they asked who he had been in contact with and the only person was my mum (who is our childcare) she's had a phone call to say she has to self isolate.
As for someone saying it was bull, why would I lie? 😂
I'll wait until later and see if he receives the text and see if he can update it

This. My last phone was always running out of space. I used to clear the cache of my apps to get space back, if still lacking I deleted an app. There would have been no point whatsoever in deleting texts, they take up so little space.
Cattitudes · 03/02/2021 08:29

Complete aside but I would get him to move most of the pictures either into the cloud or a separate hard drive in case he loses or breaks his phone. He doesn't have to keep them all on it.

testingtesting321 · 03/02/2021 08:46

He will get another call from test and trace so he should give your details at that point. Test and trace don’t have details about who lives with who unless that information is given by the case, so they won’t automatically know about your existence.

Does this help, Op?

111.nhs.uk/isolation-note/

It's the NHS link for getting an isolation note.

The guidance for Track and Trace is here:

WalkingOnStarshine · 03/02/2021 10:11

My old phone used to be like that. I'd get a notification to say I couldn't receive texts because I had no memory left, so I'd have to delete a few until the new ones came through. Very annoying.

Can't you just tell work that you have to isolate? Would they not believe you?

Yes I just wasn't sure if I needed proof as this is the first time we've had to isolate I wasn't sure how it all worked, thank you Smile

Got it sorted and I've got an isolation note. Thank you everyone
