Lockdown what lockdown????

I work in a school and staff have been working on a rota system. However from yesterday all staff are now back in as we have 75% of the children in. So many workplaces have told staff they don't want their staff working from home as productivity levels are low because they are too busy homeschooling their children, so children need to go to school so parents can work on site in their workplace, Both sets of our neighbours now back at work in their offices full time as company can not afford all the technology and technical support to keep them at home. Traffic near us at school time especially is still horrendous, coffee shops although only offering take aways are attracting huge crowds of people, shops such as wickes, home bargains etc are rammed. With this new strain spreading surely lockdown should be stricter???

@GreenSlide

These threads make me laugh. People who are livid because they have spotted other people out and about whilst they were also out and about. Wind your neck in OP, there is a lockdown and it's having an impact on the figures. We're doing ok, even those of us who go to the shop sometimes.

As for complaining about children being in school, in my opinion they should all be in school. So can't join your outrage there.

So much this! When people were baying for schools to close and I pointed out how much vulnerable children would suffer it was “vulnerable children have been able to go to go to school throughout”. Now the gov has made sure that all vulnerable children have to be given a place because the gov has made it clear what children should be included in that all I hear is “Too many children in schools”. Kids need to be in school. My niece starts secondary school in Sep. Her last full school year was year four. By the time by my son is eight he will only have had his reception year uninterrupted in school. I am more concerned about this than whether the people in B&M deserve to be there less than me.

I honestly don't know where you think they're going that's so nefarious? To look at closed shops?

Pretty quiet where I am, in a big city. Roads pretty empty. Shopping at Sainsbury’s the other afternoon, it was like a ghost town.

Positive cases are falling rapidly, death rate will follow.

311 out of 315 councils reporting cases are falling.

Sounds like we’re heading in the right direction.

@Londonmummy66

Good point but I had to get craft supplies for my class at school as more children than normal at short notice this week so no time to order.

Sorry but I don't buy that as an essential trip. Couldn't you have used that time to devise a different activity using the supplies that you already had? It's a bit like my saying I had to make an additional trip to the supermarket to buy eggs to make an omelette when I had the ingredients at home to make a risotto instead.

Ha ha this is brilliant. The problem with judging people for being in shops because your reason to be there is uniquely important and theirs is not is that there is always someone here to tell you that what you are doing is not essential. Like during L1 the person arguing milk was not essential.

No lockdown?
Christ OP, where are you? Nothing. Is. Open.
None. Of. Us. Can. Do. Anything.
Seriously?
I’ve hit a wall. Everyone I talk to has hit a wall. And you’re on here saying people aren’t adhering? FFS. We have no choice! Nothing is open!

MarshaBradyo · 02/02/2021 17:53

Sassbott I know.

My arms are getting flabby. Because I can't go swimming.

DC can't go to school.
DS is slowly dropping out from lack of engagement.
I am pretty much banned from office.
I'm afraid my neighbours will grass me up if I go out for 2 walks a day.

There's a woman who walks up & down the road a few times a day with a baby in pram. She must be bored witless.

There's a guy who goes up & down the long distance path with a distinctive dog; he's there every time I go on that path (any time of day). He never says makes eye contact or says hello but I'll wager is lonely.

Between dog-walking & dialysis 3x/week my elderly CEV neighbour has more places to go & reasons to go out than most people.

I'd be afraid to simply drive to Home Bargains (just looked it up, 17 miles away). I presume not legal right now?!
