Day 11 and still feeling rough- what's normal?

My first week of symptoms was just like a sinus infection and although I didn't feel well I wasn't too bad.

On day 9 though I came over so nauseous I really felt awful. I'm not quite so nauseous now but my appetite is so reduced. I'm eating a few crackers and drinking fruit juice but that's about it.

What's worrying me though is that I've now got a temperature when I didn't before. It's not really high, just 37.4 but I'm getting so anxious that my symptoms are going to get worse rather than better. When are people safe from suddenly deteriorating?

I do have a cough but my oximeter is showing my oxygen is ok.

I'm just so scared and fed up with this.

"Normal" covers a wide and unpleasant spectrum with COVID but FWIW it is normal to still feel like shit and be getting new symptoms during the second week (indeed for many people the second week is worse than the first). Keep an eye on your breathing, temp etc but you are likely as bad as you are going to get and should start getting slowly better over the next 10 days. Drinking plenty and resting should help w this.

Porcupineintherough Thank you.

I'm finding the fear of having this illness as bad a the actual physical illness to be honest. It feels like such a slow anxious wait.

Yes the anxiety is terrible, I had to come off social media altogether (other than the lungs threads on here) when I was sick as everything I read made me feel more frightened. Don't hesitate to ring 111 or your gp for advice/help/reassurance if you think you need to but also, remember that it is possible to be sick as a dog w COVID but not be dangerously ill.

I am on Day 35 today. Yes my worst day was around day 9 and the second week I felt worse, terrible headache, dizziness, fatigue I had no taste or smell at all but like you say the mental worry was the worst, wondering if I was going to go downhill but I was very lucky and never even got a cough or sore throat at all. I am 50 with underlying health conditions. I count myself as having got off lightly.

I can taste and smell a bit now but not back to normal yet. Still have the headache but it is better than it was.

My advice is just to try and keep busy and not read anything doom and gloom about the virus if you can and hopefully the days will pass quickly until you are past the danger zone
