To isolate or not?

I work in a large office, 3 people who I occasionally come in to contact with have tested positive for Covid. I’ve not been asked to isolate despite having brief conversations face to face with one staff member. I have the app and it’s not told me nor has the boss. Is this because I don’t count as a contact as it was not for 15 mins?

How long for and how close was the contact? It's 2m for 15 minutes or 1m for 1 minute.

I would speak to the boss with a strong argument that I feel I should isolate. They really don't want this spreading further in the office. Can you work from home? With so many people with no choice but to be at home, excluded from environments where there are no cases, decisions like this (where there are cases) should be a taken to reduce the spread.

And the contact would need to have been in the 48 hours before their symptoms started

Would the app know you were a contact? If you don't carry your phone around the office it would not notify you unless the infected person gave your name

The app works on Bluetooth but the person with the positive test needs to tell the app they were positive in order for the app to notify any phones that were in close contact. The app measures distance between the phones and the amount of time contact was for and then judges whether you were close enough for long enough to make you a close contact
