Hi an elderly relative has just had the second jab sailed through the first but not too good after the second , headache , chilly , & aching all over
I’m just wondering if anyone has been side effect free after the second jab

It is normal to have more of an immune response after the second one :)

Applejack87 · 01/02/2021 15:49

I was quite tired after the 1st dose. After the 2nd I felt quite unwell for about 36 hours.
Completely normal response.

My husband was the same, only lasted about 12 hours

Circumlocutious · 01/02/2021 16:14

Yep, I read a recommendation to book a day off for the 2nd Pfizer dose if you can...

Chailatteplease · 01/02/2021 16:14

How come they’ve been allowed it before 3 months, are you not in the UK?

Malfoof · 01/02/2021 16:42

I had the second one yesterday, feel crap today. Flu symptoms, headache etc. Hope it's over by tomorrow.

1st dose in the week before Christmas, 2nd dose in early January just as they changed the schedule. I was working in a mass vaccination centre (NHS staff) and we were all offered the vaccine.

TwilightSkies · 01/02/2021 18:17

I felt like I was getting the flu for about 18 hours after the second one. Horrible feeling! Headache, chills, weak.
Felt totally find after the first.

lurker101 · 01/02/2021 18:20

@Chailatteplease many people are having it before 3 months in U.K. over 20,000 people in NI have already had their second dose of covid vaccines

Chailatteplease · 01/02/2021 18:31

@lurker101 must have been mistaken, I thought all had been delayed by 3 months in the UK. Just England then?

lurker101 · 01/02/2021 18:36

I think it has been the advice that they should be delayed where possible to enable more people to get first doses, but the daily data shows that people are still getting second doses. As an example NI’s Dept of Health announced that 83% of care homes have had second doses administered

PaperMonster · 01/02/2021 18:49

Yes, my dad had a severe reaction after the second one and was unwell for a couple of days.

Muchtoomuchtodo · 01/02/2021 19:14

@Chailatteplease and Wales. I was days away from gettin my second dose when then changed their minds on the schedule. Still got another month to wait now.....

Chailatteplease · 01/02/2021 22:07

@Muchtoomuchtodo my second was booked for April, first was last week. I thought it was standard now 🤷🏼‍♀️

Muchtoomuchtodo · 02/02/2021 08:27

Yes I think it is now. Just those of us that had first doses in December who aren’t getting what we consented to.

notevenat20 · 02/02/2021 08:30

Yes some people feel ill for two to three days.
