Sore throat- how bad ?

FossilisedFanny · 01/02/2021 09:13

For those that have tested positive for covid with a sore throat, how sore was it ? I have a peppery throat, feel very slightly cold but am actually hot, but this is on and off, no cough and just feel not quite right.
I wouldn’t normally give these symptoms a second thought, apart from maybe the start of a cold.

I felt like my throat was full of razors. It was easily the worst sore throat I've ever had . I could barely speak

thirstyformore · 01/02/2021 10:30

I started with a sore throat. Not the worst sore throat I've had but uncomfortable. I was also incredibly thirsty. Headache and achy limbs

FossilisedFanny · 01/02/2021 11:27

I just have very low grade symptoms, felt odd in the night and wasn’t sure if I was going to have an upset tummy ( I didn’t) . Now have a runny nose and eyes and a bit of a headache.

I had a pretty mild sore throat when I had Covid. Wouldn't have considered it was Covid if dd hadn't just tested positive...

Palavah · 01/02/2021 11:33

Surely if it's possible to be Covid positive with no symptoms then it's possible to be Covid positive with mild symptoms

PregnantGotCovid · 01/02/2021 11:34

Definitely test for those symptoms. I only ever had cold symptoms plus fatigue.

My sore throat wasn't too bad, didn't need pain killers.

SirVixofVixHall · 01/02/2021 11:47

Agree definitely test with that group of symptoms.

FossilisedFanny · 01/02/2021 11:50

It’s mad . Under normal circumstances I wouldn’t be thinking anything about this but bloody covid makes you question every sniffle!

I had a sore throat last March, worst I'd ever had, couldn't sleep without a strepsil and difflam numbing spray immediately before bed. Lasted 10 days. Couldn't get a test but I wish I'd had an antibody one now to find out if it was Covid.

schnubbins · 01/02/2021 15:25

My son aged 20 had a really sore throat last Feb /March before all the testing or info re Covid was available. His whole throat was coated and sort of blistered .He suffers from strep quite often so sent him to his HNO (We live in Germany). They were completely baffled as to what it was and admitted it .He was sent him home with a prescription for antibiotics, numbing spray et al. He developed a high temp and slept for practically a week /10 days.He works in the Hotel Industry so constant contact with the public .I'm sure it was Covid .

GreenPlum · 01/02/2021 15:26

DD and DS both had a rmild sore throat then a headache then a slightly elevated temp which was when we tested. Went on to feel shit but didn't have temp or cough.

RosieLemonade · 01/02/2021 15:29

I have a really sore throat from constant testing, do you test often?

skoobysnax · 01/02/2021 15:29

My Covid sore throat wasn't at the back of my mouth, like I've had when I've had tonsillitis, in fact if I looked in a mirror with a torch it looked normal, it was burning further down. Only lasted a day. By the time I got the results back I didn't have any symptoms

FossilisedFanny · 01/02/2021 15:32

I don’t test often, no. It’s not like any sore throat I’ve had before, it feels hot and peppery. Headache has worn off a bit now.

Very slight for adult dd

Calmandmeasured1 · 01/02/2021 17:29

My brother started with a fairly mild sore throat and a little achy. Tested positive the next day. Later that day had a cough. The next day DSIL tested positive too and has been very unwell.

FossilisedFanny · 03/02/2021 13:09

I now feel a bit sweaty and shaky but the thermometer says 36 , although it’s a plastic strip that you hold against your forehead so don’t know how accurate it is. I think I have lost my sense of taste, I can sort of tell I’m drinking coffee because I can sense it’s bitter but can’t actually taste it.

DownWhichOfLate · 03/02/2021 13:23

Have you had your test result back yet?

FossilisedFanny · 03/02/2021 13:28

I have sent off for a home test but it’s not arrived yet

I keep eating different things to see if I can taste them but because I know what they should taste like I can’t tell if I’m imagining it or not. I can tell if something is sweet ( biscuit) but can’t actually taste it iyswim.

Eat something that you’d normally find revolting?

DownWhichOfLate · 03/02/2021 13:33

For me that’d be stinky cheese! If I could stomach it then something would be amiss.

FossilisedFanny · 03/02/2021 13:43

I can smell more than I can taste

Started with mild tickle. Then could feel where my tonsils are more painful than sore. Lasted a couple days then moved to my sinuses.
