I’m amazed. 1 new case of local transmission and lockdown for a week. Bloody fantastic. I have friends living there and life has been normal - socialising, parties, holidays and no masks! I know we have a much higher population densities but i think they’ve done an amazing job as a country (Australia).

The person with the positive test is a security guard in a quarantine hotel and is also an Uber driver so the risk of him having passed it around is pretty high. Hopefully their lockdown will limit the risk of it spreading further still.
Agree they seem to have done a great job of bringing their numbers down - they had a pretty strict lockdown that lasted 4 months or so initially.

I have family in Perth (and lived there myself 2012 - 2014) and have been amazed how well it's been handled there. Very jealous of all the meals out my family has been having Grin

@Eggsley I knew he was a security guard in a quarantine hotel but not an Uber driver as well, that’s just a bit daft surely although obviously he must have needed the money. Hindsight is a beautiful thing and I wish we’d gone for a similar approach but it might not have worked here anyway.
