Rapid covid test for toddlers?

I can’t find any guidance online if 2 year olds can take a rapid covid test. DD has a runny nose since morning but no other symptoms. Her nursery has said that in the absence of the main symptoms, other symptoms such as runny nose, diarrhoea etc will need a rapid test before going back to nursery. However, all the local testing places need children to be over 5 years at least. Has anyone done this or should we just a book a regular PCR test?

If you don't meet any of the criteria for a test, whether that's rapid no symptoms test or a proper test then you shouldn't be getting one.
The nursery can't expect you to break the guidelines for it, I would guess that its up to them and their illness policy whether they let your child come back until they're better but they shouldn't be encouraging you to take a test you aren't entitled to.
