I am beyond broken if this means we can't get to any kind of normality.

Just reading that the programme was initially pushed back because of lack of money.

what's the delays with COVAX?

"No one is giving them vaccine, we want it all !!! which is what majority on here want"

Nothing to do with us wanting it all!! Why would we have donated so much to Covsx if we wanted it all? How would it benefit us only vaccinating ourselves?

Perhaps by looking at the facts, they haven't delivered any vaccines because they have been slow to order and haven't even approved the emergency use if many vaccines yet Hmm

marbellamarc · 30/01/2021 20:55

Thanks @meditrina

You don't stop baling out a boat with a hole in it so you can take on passengers from another boat with a hole in it, do you?

This.

Although UK Gov to pandemic hasn't always been perfect, they were more organised than many at securing vaccines. Why should we penalised for this? I pay my taxes so I'm as entitled as anyone else in the country to the vaccine, which I want because I don't want to risk long covid and ill for months unable to work.

I totally accept and agree that the at risk groups must be done first, as they are most likely to die/end up in hospital. Then everyone else in the UK must be offered the vaccine before we consider giving it away outside of the UK, especially as we have all paid for it! (Plus we'll be paying for covid, furlough and everything else for a very long time anyway).

Some people might be prepared to return to normal without being vaccinated but many of us who are under 50, BMI under 25 and no health conditions will continue to minimise our interactions with society until we've been vaccinated. The government can make me return to the workplace, but they can't force me buy a sandwich at lunchtime, or go to the pub after work, restuarant at weekends, nail bar or buy a fancy frock for a party I won't attend! And for this reason I think the UK gov will offer its own population the vaccine first because it is the key to getting everyone confident, out and about and spending money again.

I'd also support prioritising people in jobs that can't be done from home, e.g. police, fire, rescue, education, food processing, shops, etc before people like myself who are fortunate to WFH

Tal45 · 30/01/2021 20:59

No one in any other country is going to prioritise us over themselves - why are we expected to do that? We need to get the whole world vaccinated asap no doubt about it but I'm not going to put others before my family, I'm heading towards 50 and have an autistic child I need to be around for.
The idea that the virus is going to mutate into a much worse strain is only as likely as that it is going to mutate into a non deadly virus.

LetItGoGo · 30/01/2021 21:00

And it is as likely to mutate here.

I'm young and in no rush to get the vaccine. Everyone's free to make their own choices but some people saying 'I don't care about others, I want MY VACCINE' and at the same time demanding others stop living their lives so THEY can be protected is ridiculous.

MaryBerrysChutney · 30/01/2021 21:06

WHO can fuck themselves.

@HettieMills
You wrote
I trust these people won't be sticking their arm out for the vaccine that could go to someone more deserving than them and I replied that of course I wouldn't. Because who would sit there with their arm out while someone more vulnerable was sitting in the waiting room being told "sorry no more vaccines today"?

When it's time for my vaccine other people in the same category as me will be getting the vaccine, everyone in this country who is more vulnerable than me will have already been offered it. So my vaccine couldn't go to someone more deserving than me, they can't quickly nip it half way across the world can they? Who would I be helping by refusing a vaccine that is already right there in front of me, with no one more deserving than me around to have it instead? I took your question at face value, I took it literally. Clearly I misunderstood your question, just as you misunderstood my answer.

You were unnecessarily rude to me, telling me that you and your colleagues would be fucked off with me if they had to treat me and calling me a covidiot. Then when I cleared it up for you, rather than admitting that you'd misunderstood me, you blustered over it by calling me incoherent. A fair few insults, just because you'd misunderstood me and didn't have the balls to own up to it.

I don’t want lock down to last even if it means I’m not vaccinated yet - and this will be the case

I also have followed the rules to keep cases low for others more vulnerable

I don’t think I’ve been selfish but I do think the U.K. has done a lot for vaccine cause that is rarely mentioned

marbellamarc · 30/01/2021 21:12

Is this category 10?

PeggyHill · 30/01/2021 21:13

I'm not in the UK but it sounds nuts to me. You have the highest death rate in the world. Why on earth shouldn't you continue to vaccinate as much and as fast as possible?

It sounds like a very cruel request to me.

user1471565182 · 30/01/2021 21:14

WHO can fuck off frankly. They remind me of the UN with the Bosnian Serbs in the 90s with the way they act to the Chinese regime, bowing and scraping desperate not to upset them whilst normal people are dying in their thousands.

EasterIssland · 30/01/2021 21:16

A friend of mine has got two relatives in icu at the moment. Both healthy. One 66 the other one 53.(he’s the one looking worse at the moment) So this might be an example why it’s not only needed to vaccinate more than the initial group.

Shelovesamystery · 30/01/2021 21:16

@marbellamarc yes, as far as I'm aware it's 10. 29yo, no underlying conditions.

milamalami · 30/01/2021 21:18

MarshaBradyo

I'm not criticising UK government on this - I think they've done a wonderful job on securing vaccines. What I have problem with is some people's attitude. Blaming others for sneaking out to see their relatives or friends because it puts them at risk and at the same time saying they don't give a sh*t about people dying in other countries, because they want to get back to normal. You can't have it both ways.

marbellamarc · 30/01/2021 21:19

I wouldn't say everyone in that category is equal but maybe they will revise. Eg a 35 white women wfh will have lower risk then a 35 black male working out of the home.

donewithitalltodayandxmas · 30/01/2021 21:19

Bluethrough I don't seem to be a le to copy on the app ? It may be quicker than a year x 2 to vaccinate everyone and once goverment know they have enough i think they will begin diverting or even once all have one , which could be by summer. Like I say we don't have realtime evidence yet that vaccinating say over the 50's means cases are down and nhs is coping .
Happy to revisit distrubiting elsewhere when we do?
Its also has to be on a worldwide scale to make a difference to the fight overall

marbellamarc · 30/01/2021 21:22

Happy to revisit distrubiting elsewhere when we do?

Yep it's too soon.
Its also has to be on a worldwide scale to make a difference to the fight overall

Won't work otherwise.

donewithitalltodayandxmas · 30/01/2021 21:22

When I say have enough I mean physically coming through , we have seen orders don't actually mean they are here.
Does anyone know the shelf life of vaccines ?

Justthebeerlighttoguide · 30/01/2021 21:23

If wealthier countries don't get working again we can't help anyone else.

Vaccinate here, get us going, then do whatever... China is apparently back to normally they arnt reaching out are they...

donewithitalltodayandxmas · 30/01/2021 21:24

Someone help me learn how to copy on a mobile app , I seem to have no options to do this - or am I just being a bit thick

marbellamarc · 30/01/2021 21:25

if you hover & press copy will it not let you paste?

apalledandshocked · 30/01/2021 21:25

Im actually in the EU but wierdly keep thinking about this conundrum as though I was still in Britain, I dont know why. My own view though is once all the vulnerable are vaccinated (whether in the UK or another country) then surely they would need to start relaxing the lockdown. I have been following the rules to the letter but I was always aware that that was predominantly to avoid spreading the virus around rather than to avoid personal risk to myself. I am not being cavalier - I know that 30 year olds can still be very ill or die as a result of covid, but the risks are so much lower that frankly Im prepared to take that risk if it means my son can go to school and I can go to my weekly exercise class.

donewithitalltodayandxmas · 30/01/2021 21:28

Thanks at last , i was looking for a special button , other than just normal copy and paste.
