You don't stop baling out a boat with a hole in it so you can take on passengers from another boat with a hole in it, do you?
This.
Although UK Gov to pandemic hasn't always been perfect, they were more organised than many at securing vaccines. Why should we penalised for this? I pay my taxes so I'm as entitled as anyone else in the country to the vaccine, which I want because I don't want to risk long covid and ill for months unable to work.
I totally accept and agree that the at risk groups must be done first, as they are most likely to die/end up in hospital. Then everyone else in the UK must be offered the vaccine before we consider giving it away outside of the UK, especially as we have all paid for it! (Plus we'll be paying for covid, furlough and everything else for a very long time anyway).
Some people might be prepared to return to normal without being vaccinated but many of us who are under 50, BMI under 25 and no health conditions will continue to minimise our interactions with society until we've been vaccinated. The government can make me return to the workplace, but they can't force me buy a sandwich at lunchtime, or go to the pub after work, restuarant at weekends, nail bar or buy a fancy frock for a party I won't attend! And for this reason I think the UK gov will offer its own population the vaccine first because it is the key to getting everyone confident, out and about and spending money again.
I'd also support prioritising people in jobs that can't be done from home, e.g. police, fire, rescue, education, food processing, shops, etc before people like myself who are fortunate to WFH
