CEV Vaccine booked

Orangeblossom1977 · 29/01/2021 17:54

Today the bookings are being taken for CEV vaccines locally and I have booked in DH for next week.

Very happy but also a bit apprehensive as he's on immunosuppressants.
Anyone else in the same boat?

I guess it will be fine, the flu jab is usually. On the consultants advice he has stopped one of the meds in recent months due to the situation with covid, so I guess may be less risky.

Which vaccine is he getting?

redsquirrelfan · 29/01/2021 17:57

That's fast, are you in Gloucestershire? They haven't even finished the over 80s where I am.

Orangeblossom1977 · 29/01/2021 18:07

I'm SW, nearest big city Bristol. Yes I kept checking the website! It didn't work yesterday but it does today!

They don't tell you the vaccine type until you go. Have had both sets parents done in recent weeks. Very rural parents in 70s in Scotland last week and this, and in 70s in Bristol last week.

I'm cev and had mine yesterday. The hub here is managing 1800 vaccines a day.

Phymp · 29/01/2021 19:05

Mine is booked for tomorrow. After initial euphoria I am now a bit worried. It's at a GP surgery with a pharmacy. A place I wouldn't set foot in normally.
My plan is this
Arrive on the dot of appt not a minute before.
Double masks, blue surgical with a cloth mask on top.

If asked to wait 15 minutes (I don't know which vaccine it is) I will ask if I can wait outside.
Gel the life out of me when I get in car.
Strip off and shower when I get home.

Orangeblossom1977 · 29/01/2021 21:01

If it helps any the people I know who have had one have said (in different locations) all have been managed very well - it would be good to have the option of one outside perhaps e.g. in car.

My cousin who is early 50s and cev has booked hers today too, for next week. South Yorkshire.

Onmyown1 · 29/01/2021 21:46

I’m cev and have got mine booked for tomorrow. I’m in the Midlands.

Oh12lookanothernamechange1234 · 30/01/2021 02:33

@Phymp I had the Astrazenica today and had to wait in my car 15mins after. So no driving. Mine was a mass test centre so well organised and in and out so very quickly.
Longest part was checking my IF

*IF

ID seriously predictive text!!!

Phymp · 30/01/2021 08:31

@Oh12lookanothernamechange1234 ID? It doesn't say on the email confirmation to take ID? I will take some anyway. I had printed off my shielding letter to take - although they might just assume I am over 90 judging by appearances Grin

Orangeblossom1977 · 30/01/2021 09:55

Has anyone on immunosuppressants had the vaccine yet and how did it go, in terms of side effects I mean? Thanks

I had the Pfizer one this morning. Am on immunosuppressants (and have had Covid). Feel ok so far - though admit it has only been 6 hours or so! Some CEV friends who’ve had the AZ Oxford one have felt a bit rough the next day. Staff at my vaccine centre (large teaching hospital) were great and talked through everything beforehand, plus I was given a print out of what to expect. I had to take my shielding letter as proof.

Thanks Busmum

You’re welcome, OP. Just an update- 24 hours on, I have quite a sore arm, and a bit of a headache. I slept absolutely soundly last night - went up to bed to try and settle my toddler at 8 and crashed out. I feel mostly fine this morning- glad it’s a weekend, because I’m not sure I’ve got the energy for homeschool (haha) but a low-key lockdown Sunday is probably exactly what I need. Good luck to your DH. I hope it goes well.

Thanks Flowers and glad it is going ok
