Vaccine calculator

I’ve been watching the vaccine calculator regularly and it’s giving me some light at the end of the tunnel.
However yesterday, my expected vaccine date jumped back a month!! Feel disheartened. 😞
I’m in group 6. We are shielding for my children but they unfortunately can’t be vaccinated as too young. It’s just so scary. And now the date is sliding further and further away 😞

Don't worry my husbands is being vacinnated today a month ahead of the calculators prediction.

LemonTT · 29/01/2021 08:54

The calculator is a crock is shit. It’s fed by made up information based on erroneous guesses.

You are likely to called in March. It could be sooner depending on vaccine supply and local population size.

Therealone - that’s good news for your dh. Which group is he in?

Absolutely this, it's just maths, it has no idea about the real world specifics

The way they are flying thru people it won’t be long til everyone who wants it will be done.
Mine is booked for Sunday , I’m 37 but CEV , we are doing well if we are already down to this group of people .

EspressoExpresso · 29/01/2021 09:21

Based on your profile, you are in priority Group 2, and there are between 245,277 and 538,732 people in front of you in the queue for a first dose of COVID vaccine across the UK.
📅 Given a vaccination rate of 2,486,213 a week and an uptake of 70.6%, you should expect to receive your first dose of vaccine between 30/01/2021 and 01/02/2021.

You should then get your second dose by between 24/04/2021 and 26/04/2021.

I'd say that's pretty accurate - I'm getting my first dose this morning

Therealone · 29/01/2021 09:59

@Flossie44 he's in the healthy 65-70 group.

Flossie44 · 29/01/2021 10:23

I spoke to my gp yest about my daughter and while we were on the phone, I asked about the vaccines. He said they’re only doing the over 80’s still locally!! Two friends in the next town however who are CEV had theirs last week!

I'd ignore the calculator - so many different variables will affect how soon you'll be vaccinated. There have been issues with distribution, e.g. London surgeries/centres didn't get sent enough vaccine compared with other places, so we're lagging behind - hence the number of over 80s being vaccinated has been lower here.

Therealone · 29/01/2021 11:28

@BIWI we're in London. My friends, very healthy 78 year old have had both their pfizer jabs, same town different surgery.

flumposie · 29/01/2021 11:47

The calculator told me next month (cev). I had it yesterday. The hub i had it at is managing 1800 per day. It's huge.

BIWI · 29/01/2021 11:58

That's good to hear @Therealone!

donewithitalltodayandxmas · 29/01/2021 13:51

The calculator told me pretty much same dates for 66 year old dad , me in forties and ds 18 other day ??

PuzzledObserver · 29/01/2021 14:06

I’m really appreciating the figures on this one:

covidvax.live/location/gbr

It starts from the latest published figures and extrapolates based on recent vaccination rates, so it adjusts daily in response to how the rollout is actually going. If you know how many are in the groups ahead of you (data widely available), you can roughly see how many days away they are from reaching your group.

HalfDutchGirl · 29/01/2021 14:11

Ive started volunteering at our (small) local vaccine hub and have been told we're booking in approx 3 people every 5 minutes, so roughly about 400 people a day. Everyone I booked in today was in the over 70s age group.

As previous posters have said, I think the vaccination queue has so many variables I really wouldn't take it too seriously, it probably just gives you a ball park date.

Therealone · 29/01/2021 16:21

My DH has just returned from his vacinnation. It's a small community centre and they're aiming to do 130 an hour. It was very quick he said, no sitting down afterwards.
