Positive after vaccine, milder case?

I had my first dose of the Pfizer vaccine 4 weeks ago. The second dose was delayed and today I’ve tested positive. Does anyone know if there’s evidence to suggest that the infection should be less serious if I’ve had a vaccination? I don’t have any symptoms yet, tested positive on routine test (NHS) and confirmed by PCR today

Sorry I don't have a link but I have read reports that you were less likely to need hospitalisation if you have had one dose of the vaccine. Even after two doses you can still get Covid, it's just that the likelihood goes down even further.

You have a more efficient immune response after vaccination. So the effect on your body isn't as severe as it would have been.

It's only a small percentage that need hospital treatment in the under 75's, without vaccination.

I'm on the shielding list, I've had Covid and just needed antibiotics. Look after yourself as you would if you had flu, but try not to worry anymore than you would do over any winter.

I have a colleague in the same position (nhs). She tested positive over last weekend and is feeling fluey apparently. Pretty sure she picked it up at work despite ppe. I wish we could have had the second vaccine in the original timeframe Sad

Fingers crossed that both you and she get off lightly OP

Thanks everyone, I’ll keep my fingers crossed for a mild case. I’m 49 and have a BMI of 37 but otherwise no health issues. Annoyed with myself for gaining 2 stone during the last year!

My 24 yo DS tested positive on Monday and is feeling ‘not great but not terrible’. Took 8 yo DD with me to be tested today and she is negative so far.

I tested positive 28 days after my first dose of vaccine. I’ve not felt 100% but I have not been very unwell. Like you I got a positive on a routine lateral flow but I already had a blocked up nose that day. I’ve mainly felt tired and headachey and my appetite is gone but I’m ok, it could have been much worse. I’m on day 8 now.

I hope you continue to not have symptoms and that you feel ok
