Things you've been doing to feel less flat during lockdown?

I'm finding myself feeling so flat and unmotivated during this lockdown, stuck indoors with my toddler feeling all the mum guilt for not doing enough. It feels like I'm just trying to reach the end of the day each day and I hate that. I know a lot of us feel this way too but I've had enough of feeling so crappy.

Im finding that I'm doing the wrong things to try and spark happiness like online shopping (even though money is tight due to being a closed self employed business due to covid) or comfort eating. Or even mindlessly scrolling Instagram in the evenings which usually leaves you feeling not good either.

I'm wondering what little things you've been doing to brighten up these dull lockdown days? Please inspire and motivate me 😅

I like allocating days of the week to my long to do list and feels motivational when I get a couple of jobs a day crossed off. Hubs brought me a yoga mat for Xmas which I swear I'm going to use eventually other than that my garden pots (planted in layers, I went all Monty Don) are coming up, exciting spotting new shoots, Spring is on the way.

Get out for exercise early, even if it’s raining (this helps so much)
Bought daffodils
Decluttered gradually. Only doing one drawer or cupboard at a time as busy with work & kids at home, but feels like I’m achieving something
Having a cold glass of wine each evening
10 minute de-stress yoga on YouTube

Gordon's pink gin and Fevertree Aromatic tonic. Ice cold.

Plan events, I'm planning Valentine's Day and making a hamper for my ds's. Just bath bombs, heart shaped chocs, balloons and stuff.
I started cross stitching last year and I'm building up a stock of cards and have made personalised napkin rings!
Walk every single day.
I always put make up on.
Bedtime boogie - play a silly song before kids bedtime and dance with them.
Let kids do stuff like make dens and sleep in the playroom.

Great thread

In desperate need of some more ideas.

Friday night dinner on a fri night with popcorn for me and the kids

The odd unhealthy drive thru but hey it could be worse

We walk every day come rain or shine as we have dogs but we change our route and we take it in turns to pick the route but don't tell the others so it's a kind of blind walk Grin

I've spent January dragging myself around so feb is when I start sorting my shit out. I hate feeling like this and the less I do the less I want to do

I feel so much better on the days I've been busy and achieved things

We've watched and loved Schitt's creek over the past few months but we've resisted watching the very last season. We're leaving it there in reserve as a pick-me up to watch when our spirits truly drop which I think could be mid February.

Comedy - Charity Shop Sue on YouTube has saved me. Watch the panic attack episode.

-Started running again at the end of the day- making myself get some exercise and seeing my time come down/speed increase very motivating.

-Pregnant so sadly cant treat myself with a wine at end of the day so have wine glass with tonic water/ice lemon to pretend its a G&T, light a nice candle and relax on sofa watching crap tv while DH does bedtime.

A bit late to the party, but this week I have played a game with our online shop - not allowed to buy anything we have bought before.

Quite excited for it to arrive tonight, feels a bit like going on holiday!

I'm planning a cinema night for the boyfriend on Saturday.

There'll be popcorn and ice cream at the interval. I'm going to show him to his seat with a torch.

Best of all I've downloaded a load of old cinema adverts to watch before the film including Pearl and Dean.

Cooking things I wouldn't normally cook. I get a veg box delivery and am often left with veg I wouldn't normally choose so have to get creative.

Recently I've been going on Mumsnet Classics and absolutely laughing my head off reading the funniest threads 😂 it's really helped with my mood!
