Holiday in summer 2022

I know no one can give anything like a definitive answer, but how likely would a foreign holiday be go go ahead in June/July next year?

I am just completely fed up and down with the whole situation. Work is horribly stressful (front line worker) I’m having my leave and rest days cancelled and basically working to the point of exhaustion. I’m trying to home school two kids. DH is furloughed so helping with school/housework but it’s sent him into a bit of depression really.

Psychologically we all need something to look forward to and I’m considering booking a holiday for next summer. Am I mad?

We were hoping to go to Florida in 2022. It’s nice to dream about it. I think the UK will be in a much better place by then, but I also think a lot depends on how other countries get on with their own vaccination schedules, as well as the emergence of new strains. In general I think the government has handled this crisis really badly, but the vaccination side of things is going quite well it seems. Personally I wouldn’t be booking anything just yet, though. We are likely to lose money over a booking to France for 2020 that’s probably not going to happen in 2021.

I think any countries that have started vaccinating now will be in a pretty good position in over a years time. Only ones I would be a little cautious about is Australia and NZ. If you can get a deal where you can get a refund or move your booking should you need to it isn't a worry anyway.

I am fingers crossed for an October 2021 European holiday on a plane!

So I would say yes to summer 2022.

It would be lovely to think everything will be back to normal by that point but I’m not booking as still too much is unknown. New strains, high cases, vaccines needing to be done yearly etc and if masks, SD etc are all still in place then I’d rather wait.

Gosh I hope so...I was hoping for the end of this year

Yes summer 2022 holidays will happen if they don’t we won’t have a travel industry left. I think from mid summer this year we will be able to travel again and I fully intend to go abroad aug/sept if we are able to and then again in November.

BakewellGin1 · 28/01/2021 18:38

I sincerely hope so. We are aiming for a beach holiday May 22, and have a short city break booked in December 21.

If the vaccination program goes to plan then all adults should be vaccinated by Sept this year (not sure if that’s 2nd jab) so autumn holidays may be a thing.

I think by the summer we’ll be able to move freely around the U.K. So we may go somewhere here this summer.

Next year we’re wondering about Florida at Easter 22, and then a week in Spain or Portugal at the end of Aug 22 just before the schools go back.

Dorset may be.

Get some very good cancellation policies! Very hard to tell atm op as things can change so drastically. I think a lot of counties may be out of bounds for a while, so maybe have a list of ideal places?
