What about GCSEs?

Dd in year 11, has taken her mocks and did well, she needs to up her biology grade and i am lucky that i can help her with this. Alot, if not most of the other schools in the area havent taken their mocks yet.

My dd is worried about her 6th form choices and is also disadvantaged by dyslexia. She has worked so so hard to overcome this and i couldn't be more proud but im watching her motivation plummit without proper interaction with her teachers. I am sure she is very much not alone.

So what is happening? One minute GCSEs cancelled, the next some sort of in school assessment but with the prospects of no face to face teaching until at least march, how can they even contemplate making these kids sit exams??

My heart is breaking for DD, she needs guidance and its just not there on a bloody teams meeting.

I actually think keeping the schools shut is the right decision but what now???

I could have written your post myself. I don't know the answer. Schools can't open. It was hell in December as illness swept through the school. I think some clarity about how assessment will be done and some guarantee of leniency on the assessments would be helpful.

We wait for the outcome of the consultation. Which should, of course, have happened before the announcement of exams being cancelled. But that's not how the DfE does things, unfortunately
