Are your case rates currently higher or lower than pre tier 4?

Just that really!

We went into tier 4 on Boxing Day and our case rate has now come down to the same level.

I see this as hope. I also know they kept rising until the lockdown in Jan and so we need to stick at this.

But case rates dropping alongside the vaccine programme is looking more positive than 2 weeks ago when they thought we may need even tougher restrictions.

Lower than when we went into Tier 4 (20th December).

But 3 times higher than when we came out of November lockdown.

CarlottaValdez · 27/01/2021 16:47

Much lower - 400 off per 1000 against 900

Daisysflowers · 27/01/2021 17:14

A lot lower Smile

UncomfortableSilence · 27/01/2021 17:16

Much lower, we were at 1240 per 100000 week ending 20/12 we are now down to 450 per 100000. London.

EmbarrassingAdmissions · 27/01/2021 17:17

Still higher. That said, we've dropped from 1600+ per 100K to

CovidPostingName · 27/01/2021 17:21

About the same as our tier 4 rates were but coming down steadily, but at least twice as high as tier 2/post Nov lockdown. It'll take a lot longer I reckon to get back there for us.

itsgettingweird · 27/01/2021 17:27

That's good.

Seems like tier 4 was a good start for circuit break but lockdown was needed - but enough. And it's reversed those rates quite quickly.

It'll be interesting to see case rates in a week, then 2 and then a month.

That's a good point. I'll have a look at my town post Nov lockdown when we went into tier 2.

Higher. But when we were in Tier 4, our figures were lower than our nearby town in a lower Tier - only I can’t remember if they were 2 or 3 now!

GintyMcGinty · 27/01/2021 17:30

Lower

It was about 124

Today its 111

itsgettingweird · 27/01/2021 17:30

Ours came down in Nov lockdown to 85/100k

Came down from 150 ish and went back up quite quickly.

Was 294/100k when we went into tier 4 and is the same now.

It's coming down by 100/100 each week so hopefully we'll see it down to there soon.

Higher and rising

BikeRunSki · 27/01/2021 17:38

We were in Tier 3, and our levels have reduced.

NoWordForFluffy · 27/01/2021 17:40

We were about 68/100k at Christmas. We're now about 10x that (but falling).

itsgettingweird · 27/01/2021 18:03

It's interesting to see if those who went into tier 4 earlier (pre Christmas) have rates falling quicker?

So far I'm the only person who was tier 2 at Christmas who is back down to those levels.

Wonder if it's location rather than tiers? Or what?

OP posts:
Waxonwaxoff0 · 27/01/2021 19:07

Higher. We went into tier 4 on Boxing day when rates were about 129 per 100k. Now they're almost at 400.

RedskyBynight · 27/01/2021 19:15

People who went into Tier 4 earlier tended to have pretty high rates already at that point. So getting back down to those levels, whilst encouraging, is not time to celebrate yet.

Avaganda · 27/01/2021 19:16

Lower but ours were never that high to begin with. Now at 50 per 100k, before Christmas it was about 98 per 100k. We've had less cases since last March than some regions had in one week!

itsgettingweird · 27/01/2021 19:21

My town tends to always be at the right point at the right time (if you can call it that!).

By that I mean lockdown 1 happened just as our cases took off and it stopped them. Lockdown 2 happened just as we started to increase but we were still fairly low compared to national average.
Then just as we went into tier 4 on Boxing Day we were seeing an increase but we were still only 200odd per 100K.
Ok we hit 650/100k a few weeks ago but it was just after we went into lockdown and they dropped quickly again.

I do think there is truth in people saying the decisions have been London centric in a way. Certainly when they lifted restrictions the north was behind us and it caused then issues.
So maybe being a south town in a southern county but not too Far East has helped us?

Same was as I wonder if villages and rural towns are less affected than cities?

We know deprived towns are affected more.

wendz86 · 27/01/2021 19:23

We went into tier 4 on 20th Dec . Our current rate is lower than it was on 20th Dec but still higher than 18th Dec . Has come down lots though .

PurpleWh1teGreen · 27/01/2021 19:28

We were also tier 2 to 4 on Boxing Day. From memory, rates then were around 60/70 per 100,000. We are now the lowest by area in our county & at around 200/315 nationally.

And yet the rate is still 400:100,000

We have got a lot further to fall still. I just hope people don't start to get complacent.

DrunkenKoala · 27/01/2021 19:31

Im in Kent and we are now lower.
We came out of the Nov lockdown on 600/100000.
Went into T4 on 20 Dec on 1050/1000000.
We are now on 400/100000.

Flev · 27/01/2021 20:21

Higher here, although we only started going up about 2 weeks ago, and seem to be coming down slightly the last couple of days. We've been tier 3 forever despite consistently low numbers.

MotherExtraordinaire · 27/01/2021 20:22

We went into Nov lockdown in tier 1,came out in tier 3 then into tier 4 before Christmas.

Our rates were literally only in the low tens, but our county overall was higher.

Now we're still hovering around 600,though this has reduced by well over a third!

WeirdLoverWilde · 27/01/2021 21:14

A lot lower. We were around 600/100,000 on boxing day when we went into T4, we're about 230 now.
