Do you feel sorry for Boris?

Seeing the headlines in the papers today and there seems a lot of sympathy for him. The front pages see him looking really forlorn and sorrow regarding the death toll.

When you think a year ago he was planning on ushering in what he deemed as a golden age of Britain. Now 12 months later it's in tatters.

I can understand the sympathy, but wonder whether a Labour PM would be offered the same.
@FatCatThinCat also how do you know they are empty , do you know him personally ? Thats your opinion yes , which you are entitled to but its not proof is it
Because he's said the same months ago and has made no effort to correct the fuck ups. Genuine remorse comes with a change of behaviour. Crocodile tears don't.

derxa · 27/01/2021 16:00
@derxa yes too many have used this as a political gain , people like piers should stand for an mp as he has all the answers, funnily enough they never do though
Nicola here in Scotland is putting out daily messages. She's a good talker but has she done better? Who the fuck knows?
I'm not a Boris fan but he was what we had. There are so many reasons for our terrible death toll. The Tory government's decisions have been poor but not the only problem.

He also has had to deal with the arrival of a new baby .And on top of sleepless nights probably doesnt get as much time with his attractive fiancee as he would like.

Yes ,but also dont forget his nightly messages in the first LD leading to his own Covid infection .As my cousin says if we had had JC in then, and he had been ill we could have been left with the delightfully innumerate Diane Abbot!
Apart from the fact that DA is a fantastic, hard working MP who's been re-elected by her constituents for decades, why does your cousin think we'd have been 'left' with her?

probably doesnt get as much time with his attractive fiancee as he would like

FFS.

Rupertpenrysmistress · 27/01/2021 16:01

No way. Being PM was never going to be an easy job, admittedly no one knew a pandemic was on the horizon but, I cannot think of anything he can be praised for. Shameful. I hope there will be an inquiry at some point.

Devlesko · 27/01/2021 16:02

No, he wanted the job, gets paid an extortionate amount, will never starve and born with a silver spoon.
Yeh, my heart bleeds.

WeirdLoverWilde · 27/01/2021 16:02

@babbaloushka

Absolutely not. A lying, scheming, egocentric and manipulative prick. Misogynistic, racist, xenophobic and homophobic to boot. Any person that could cheat on their spouse while they have cancer is the lowest of the low in my eyes.
This, 100%.
FatCatThinCat · 27/01/2021 16:02
@FatCatThinCat jail without a public enquiry ? What trial by public is that how we do things now?
If I was at work and so shit at my job that people died, I'd expect to go to jail.

Stellaris22 · 27/01/2021 16:03

If anyone truly believes that Boris Johnson did sleepless nights with a new baby then there's no getting past that level of utter delusion.

Words fail me.
IncludeWomenInTheSequel · 27/01/2021 16:03

Dottie is well named. Time with his attractive fiancée, Jesus fucking Christ. 100,000 people are dead, but god forbid the poor millionaire misses a fucking date night.

TheresAnEyeInMeSoup · 27/01/2021 16:03

I don't feel sorry for him at all. You could have seen the weak sort of person he is before Brexit and the Pandemic were ever in the public psyche. He is all for himself, that one. He has brought a lot of problems on himself and is an absolute coward of a person.

NoWordForFluffy · 27/01/2021 16:03

@derxa

The whole problem is that the country should have come together. A coalition of politicians. Twitter and Piers Morgan should shut the fuck up as well. So many experts.
Keir Starmer offered to work with the government. BoZo refused.
PhilCornwall1 · 27/01/2021 16:04

No and he doesn't feel sorry for anyone else. He deserves all he gets and more on top.

lunapeace · 27/01/2021 16:05

There really is...I've only been on here a week as finding life tough as a new mum with 2 under 1.5 and 2 SDs of school age. But all it's done has made me more depressed. Think it's time to leave.
C152 · 27/01/2021 16:10

No! And I think Boris was the only one who felt he was "ushering in a golden age of Britain"!

An emergency coalition could have easily been formed. Johnson chose not to. He didn’t even have the sense to bring back some of the experience languishing on his back benches.
derxa · 27/01/2021 16:11

Keir Starmer offered to work with the government. BoZo refused.

I'm not disagreeing with you.
The truth is we all sleep walked into this. I was at a big funeral last February. At my table there was a couple who had just come back from the rugby in Rome. I had a niggling worry about it but generally thought surely it won't be as bad as Italy. Of course that was an incredibly stupid notion.

CureCovid · 27/01/2021 16:11

As a prime minister - No No No No No way ...

As a man - a little bit, sure.

I dunno, I think being pissed off about 100,000 people dying for lack of leadership is a completely sane response.

Oh, there's plenty of sympathy from the press: it's owned by a very small number of extraordinarily rich people, not many of whom are renowned for their left-wing sensibilities. In exactly the same situation, a Labour PM would be being pilloried mercilessly on a daily basis.
PhilCornwall1 · 27/01/2021 16:15

I'd have no problem unplugging his life support to charge my phone.
