Covid Toes

Hi, my 12 year old son has had a rash on his toes and feet for over a week. We thought it was athletes foot and bought some treatment for this but it’s not helped and has continued to get worse. I googled last night and came across COVID toes which sounds exactly like what he has but he’s been nowhere other than out for exercise and the rest of us are totally fine as is he apart from his feet.

Has anyone else had covid toes? Were they an early or late symptom?

I’m not sure if It’s worth a test seeing as it’s highly unlikely it’s COVID and he doesn’t have any of the 3 mains symptoms?

Does covid toes not normally present after an infection?

Is it chilblains?
My dc3 has raynauds phenomenon and gets chilblains which look similar to covid toes. Dc often says they itch as well as been painful.
Dc was firstly treated with antibiotics and wearing multiple layers (including gloves /hat in the house) now progressed to medication that lowers the blood pressure.

I think my son has/had covid toes. He tested positive in November (his only symptom was a raised temperature for 24 hours) and about a week later his feet came out in a rash. It is going now, but essentially looks like chilblains but on all his toes. I assume it is COVID toes anayway.

Thanks, sounds like it’s too late for a test of it is covid related anyway. I wouldn’t be surprised if he had something or other at the start of December, no specific COVID symptoms but we all had a cold.
Who knows what actual covid symptoms are as it seems to be very broad.

@Maybemay123 I mean it could be chilblains but I’m not sure about it being in both feet in that case?

I'm sure my son had it at the start of Covid last year.

He has it again now so not sure if it is an ongoing symptom that might flare up? We haven't been out of the house in 3 weeks, and not been in school since before Christmas

I saw your post on the Covid Toes thread I was on. My DS also had this and we treated for athletes foot first. I've since read that a child presenting with chilblain like toes with no history then you can probably assume it's due to Covid. My DS had no other symptoms but had to self-isolate due to a case at school before Xmas.

I would treat for Covid toes. We gave DS anti-histamine for the itching a couple of hours before it started at night and also applied hydrocortisone cream. It worked pretty quickly with the itching and burning. Still healing though.
