Tracking info for postal covid tests

I posted the test in a priority post box yesterday that had a 4pm collection.

The tracking is complete saying delivered at 7.52pm - yet it's only got as far as the Leeds sorting centre. The address on the box is Glasgow.

Any ideas what's going on, or how long it takes to get results?

My reading of that is it was delivered at 7:52pm so is at the lab. Results usually within 48 hours but can take longer.

This screen shot was from the app and the wording is slightly different to the website - although that's now changed. Still - it got from Leeds to Glasgow in 17 minutes?!

I can't help with tracking but to give you a timescale ... I sent two on Tuesday 5pm post last week. My positive came back Friday morning by text at 6am. My husbands negative came back yesterday at 6pm. 6 days later and 3 days after mine even though they went in the same post box at the same time!

slidingdrawers · 26/01/2021 11:13

Ahh yes I see Perhaps they have a lab in Leeds now?

royal mail sent me the postal tests, with a tesxt telling me what to do if we were not in when they arrived... Grin opps. (yes I know generic text but made me laugh. perhaps t and t are using them to spy... )

Do you get email or text confirmation for registering postal tests? I registered but not had confirmation.

I'm guessing that the address on a covid test doesn't necessarily mean anything, and possibly they all get routed to labs according to some other criteria to do with capacity. I've no evidence for that but it wouldn't seem an unreasonable way of organising it.

lesnittinsel · 27/01/2021 00:28

Good result OP?

Today's test was the same but with only one minute between received and delivered. They're not going to Glasgow are they?!

I'm in a vaccine trial so having to test three days in a row.

Both of my children have covid. When I developed a sore throat I had to test but it's negative.

We have had this recently, my DH is a Postie, the essential worker priority tests do go to Glasgow according to the address on the box.

We decided the times didn’t add up as you say, we are not in Leeds but a couple of hours from Glasgow anyway.

Priority postbox collection at 4 then Tracking showed delivered but scanned twice at the main distribution hub for our area, this would not be enough time to get to Glasgow from here as the kits are collected in a separate bag with the usual mail. The van goes round all the post boxes and this takes a couple of hours in itself.

Maybe the Tests are put in a separate system at that point when they reach the main hub so Royal Mail tracking ends there?

We got results in similar time frame to you but the one positive slightly longer, could have been coincidence.

Grin yes I had a chuckle at that one!

I have the same. Dropped it off at 4pm yesterday, think collection was at 5.45pm and it said Delivered at 8pm. How odd. I just assumed they lost it. Grin
