Long COVID and monthly cycle

Just wondering if anyone else has noticed a correlation

Think I had covid in March , untested, no beg 3 symptoms but extreme fatigue and aching after working in a public facing role all 4 days of the Cheltenham racing festival.

I've been logging the Zoe app daily since March and have just twigged that of the 8 times they have sent me for testing (all of which have been negative ) , 7 times have been a day either side of my period .

The symptoms that I get are all day headache, aching joints, sore throat and fatigue (sleeping 12 hours plus an afternoon nap) but just for a couple of days and then I've been fine .

Never had these symptoms around my period before March . I've also developed an intermittent patchy rash on my back and shoulders since the summer that leaves pigment marks even when it's not bright red .

Just wondered if it's just me ?

I should add that GP
Is now treating me as though I have long covid as I've had all of those symptoms continuously since new year without any respite. I'm now trying prescription anti inflammatory and anti histamine daily for a month.

She thinks likely long covid as Dh and ds both tested positive on New Year's Day , I was negative but symptoms flared up then . Her suggestion is that exposure a second time has caused a flare up similar to shingles when coming into contact with chicken pox

Interesting! I know nothing, but hopefully someone else will come along and have something useful to add.

Does the Zoe app know when your cycle is?

I also had COVID back end of March and then long COVID. My symptoms always flare up just before my period and I've heard similar from other long COVID sufferers.

Zoe app doesn't but I track my cycle on another app and this afternoon noticed the correlation fir the first time

Perhaps you could feedback to zoe that cycle symptoms need to be taken into account. It's something that needs to be considered.

I had covid in November and I've noticed for the last 3 periods they are late I was going to keep a eye on this over the next few months.but glad I'm not the only one who is having something period and covid related.

I had covid a month ago. I’m not feeling completely normal yet, but I had a definite worsening at the end of last week in the two days before my period. I did wonder if it was connected and was actually going to start a thread about it today. Period was also (ever so slightly) late.

Good to hear it's not just me . It's such a weird collection of symptoms that I hadn't realised it matched my cycle as it's nothing like pms.

Hoping that the current flare up gets sorted by the anti inflammatory and anti histamine.

Will drop Zoe an email I think to flag up
