I’m

  • closing the borders instantly
  • vaccinating all school staff and all adults who live with school children.

You?

Issuing spacesuits to all citizens

PuppyMonkey · 25/01/2021 11:06

I’m inventing a vaccine that gives 100percent protection with a single dose no side effects, taken as a pill and it will be delivered free of charge by Amazon to everyone - next day if you have Prime.Grin

Agree. Plus equalising the vaccine delivery across all three nations , rather than some places not having vaccinated the over nineties yet, and others already on the seventies. Oh and compulsory ward scrubbing for all Covid deniers..Grin
SirVixofVixHall · 25/01/2021 11:12

@ferretface

I'm launching a massive investment programme in health to:

-build new hospitals and expand capacity
-bring more people into the profession - train more HCAs in specific aspects of respiratory and covid care initially but over the longer term really work at getting the workforce capacity we need, pay staff more
-fight obesity

I'm closing the borders
I'm throwing everything at vaccinating the population (tbf think this is already happening)

I'm asking my civil servants to look at ways of incentivising people to stay at home and stop the spread rather than new ways of punishing them

I'm creating an government backed insurance system for the events industry
I'm looking at ways to support shuttered businesses with their fixed costs as well as supporting furlough

I'm going full Keynesian with my economics and will spend as much as it takes!

Ferret I think we need you as an MP
Mousehole10 · 25/01/2021 11:14

@Arboria

Boris today saying he’s going to relax some measures before mid-February

🤦🏼🤦🏼🤦🏼

Where did he say this?
WTAFIhavelosttheferret · 25/01/2021 11:19

@Lelophants

And yes masks mandatory outside so people stop and think a bit more before go out.
Based on what transmission evidence?
SonjaMorgan · 25/01/2021 11:21

I would be supporting the excluded 3million.
Continue with the £20 benefit uplift.
Vaccinating keyworkers first as they are in China.
Not much would change for most as I think the lockdown needs to continue but supporting people should be a priority.

GabriellaMontez · 25/01/2021 11:21

@Bewareoftheblob

I'm gathering up everyone who wants to keep us in our houses for years on end and dropping them in the sea.
I'll help you

I am broadening the criteria for a covid test to match the cdc criteria and educating the public on the full range of potential symptoms.

I am providing supoort to enable the low paid and self employed to self isolate.

I am fortifying bread and milk with vitamin d.

I am introducing hotel quarantine for international travellers.

I am making border force undertake social distancing for passenger arrivals.

I am vaccinating staff at special needs schools as a priority along with care home staff.

I am sacking the cabinet and putting people in place on the basis of competance rather than their stance on brexit.

WitchesNest · 25/01/2021 11:33

I’m opening the country back up again because I can see that lockdown is both ineffective and having a serious detrimental impact on the population and economy. Covid isn’t killing less people because of lockdown, it’s just killing them slower.

110APiccadilly · 25/01/2021 11:34

I'm building an online risk calculator so that you can see what your actual risk of hospitalisation or death is (data exists to do this quite easily). You will be encouraged to use this (if no internet access there will be a phone line you can ring). Everyone with a risk over a certain level and those who live with them (risk level to be decided when I've talked to NHS chiefs about capacity, and looked at the stats for the country) will be supported to the hilt to stay safe - salary paid if required, shopping delivered, safe visiting pods with a clear barrier and a "clean" and "dirty" side arranged so they can see people. And anything else that they need, schooling for their children, etc, etc. Anyone working to care for them will be tested daily, and we will build up a bank of reserve carers to replace anyone testing positive that day.

I'll reopen the Nightingales and put HCAs through emergency training to take on certain nursing roles (so they wouldn't have nursing training, but they could do more than they do now) and employ more HCAs. Longer term, I'd make degrees in nursing and medicine free if you work for the NHS for ten years, and increase the numbers on those courses.

Then I'd remove all legal restrictions.

110APiccadilly · 25/01/2021 11:36

Obviously I'd continue to vaccinate, so this would all (apart from the free training for doctors and nurses only be temporary, hopefully).

Frequentflier · 25/01/2021 11:37

Yeah well...always amazed that the rest of the world- including democracies mind you, they are not all communist dictatorships- dont seem to have conditions that prevent them from wearing masks. Even small children wear masks. There were 3 people in my supermarket not wearing masks yesterday. The underpaid Indian cashier looked terrified and told me people get aggressive when asked to wear masks.But hey, carry on with individual liberties over the public good and be in lockdown till 2022. The rest of the world is laughing.

Jacketpotato84 · 25/01/2021 11:39

Id have a full on break down and probably do the worst thing imaginable because i would not be able to cope with so much pressure and responsibility of 67milion peoples lifes. Its all very upsetting for everyoneSad

Justthebeerlighttoguide · 25/01/2021 11:41

I’m running a national education campaign about the importance of ventilation in reducing transmission. I might just tack it onto Hands, face, space so as not to confuse people- hands, face, space, AIR

Me too Grin its driving me insane!

I will do countless short public info videos showing people talking in various situations and thick green covid breath passing from person to person, in supermarkets, classrooms, on trains and so on.

Ventilation, ventilation and VENTILATION.

I was horrified, over the summer when numbers came down I went out to a few places , pubs meal, and restaurant - and no windows were open and when after a while it was getting stuffy I asked if they could open the window for a moment I was told - they can lower the heating????
No understanding at all of air air air air.....

Justthebeerlighttoguide · 25/01/2021 11:42

I will also ask major industry to look into air purifying systems to clean the air and try and roll out everywhere.

CountessFrog · 25/01/2021 11:44

Masks mandatory outside.

Hilarious! Just walked my dog alone on a golf course. Should I have worn a mask?

😂

Frequentflier · 25/01/2021 11:49

Obviously not everyone lives rurally on a golf course. The parks were packed in London yesterday. And with the new variant am not sure how safe it was. Would it have killed people to wear a mask?

MechantGourmet · 25/01/2021 11:50

@CountessFrog

😂

Well, yes- your dog might have caught it at work and be asymptomatic and pass it on to you Sad

Thanks just seen it creeping into the news stories. Best news I’ve heard in ages, it’s given me some hope.

Yohoheaveho · 25/01/2021 11:54

I'm looking into mask technology, public information campaign so that people really understand how masks work

cardswapping · 25/01/2021 11:54

I tell Covid to leave and die, it listens and does it.
