Woke Tuesday with a weird muscle ache/pain on my left side and deep behind my breast - but mostly hurt when i turned or twisted. Wednesday evening chills, aching all over, horrible bowels, tight chest and temp of 38 so booked a test Thursday and had a negative result Friday. Felt a lot better saturday but temperature returned last night (37.8), felt OK today but this evening feeling a bit sluggish, chilly, slightly sore throat and ears and temp is back up to 37.8.

My usual temp is around 36.4. Should I test again or just assume it's a general bug? If it make a difference DH felt unwell on Monday and also had a negative result but he's fine now.

I know someone who had two negative results followed by a positive all in a week (third one advised by dr) so if you're feeling unwell still with Covid symptoms I would say get another one.

My daughter had a very high fever beginning of the week, negative test on Tuesday. Fever went away on Weds night. It came back yesterday, this time with a cough, so I'm taking her again tomorrow. Her keyworker at nursery has just come back from covid, my son is SI as a child in his class tested positive this week, so I figure it's better to be safe than sorry!

Thanks think I will probably book again to be sure. Haven't been going out anyway but would prefer to be sure.

The new variant does seem to have more of a Goldilocks moment for testing positive. I noticed the gov website now says something about timings. I hope you feel better soon.

I has aches and pains for a few days before I lost taste and smell. I didnt think it could be covid at first and I thought it was my mattress as everyone keeps saying "it's nothing like the flu" I tested positive about five-7 days after my first aches

The NHS advice about when you can test hasn't changed for months, since they extended it to first 8 days after symptoms appearing from first 5 days (England)

Thanks bestbefore. I'm supposed to be making a booking for vaccination this week and I've heard you can't have it straight after having covid so need to be sure
