Let Vaccinated People Out?

99 replies

cheesey123 · 24/01/2021 16:05

Why don't they say everyone that have been vaccinated can start getting out more & help start the economy back up? Why do they still have to stay in??

OP posts:
Changechangychange · 25/01/2021 00:58

Ah, sorry @tobee, it looked like you were responding to the post directly above yours.

I agree vaccination more than likely does reduce transmission, but if we are talking about older and CEV patients going out and mixing again, we do need to remind them that nobody’s claiming 100% prevention.

There are non-responders with any vaccine, and older patients and those on immunosuppression are more likely to be non-responders. Their risk is way lower after vaccination, but it isn’t zero.

tobee · 25/01/2021 00:58

That was the first google response I got for a proper explanation.

There are tonnes of things that we don't yet about the vaccines that are currently approved for Covid. It's too soon

tobee · 25/01/2021 00:59

@JengaJanga

People have had both doses and been longer than 14 days and have died!!!

How is that drama????

@JengaJanga I was asking for a link about transmission

Thank you

Probably my fault for not being clear @Changechangychange. I need to proof read better before posting.

Truelymadlydeeplysomeonesmum · 25/01/2021 01:01

@JengaJanga

People have had both doses and been longer than 14 days and have died!!!

How is that drama????

The capital letters

Just write it normally

tobee · 25/01/2021 01:02

Just checking I wasn't going crazy.

@JengaJanga said people can still spread it. My reply was:-

"No! This is not true! They don't know if they can transmit it yet or not! There is not enough data. "

tobee · 25/01/2021 01:03

@JengaJanga

BECAUSE THEY CAN STILL SPREAD IT AND NOT ALL VULNERABLE PEOPLE ARE VACCINATED .... FFS

Sorry to labour the point but this is what my response was to. To avoid ambiguity.

tobee · 25/01/2021 01:05

Did you know that using capitals and finishing off with "FFS" means you are absolutely and undeniably correct?

Hmm
Truelymadlydeeplysomeonesmum · 25/01/2021 01:13

I wish in those briefings Whitty and co would be clearer about this. Though I don't think it is that hard to understand.

Same as efficiency. Everyone focuses on that. When deduction in serious illness is proven to be fantastic and the game changer here.

tobee · 25/01/2021 01:20

Efficiency or efficacy? I'm confusing myself now! Smile

Truelymadlydeeplysomeonesmum · 25/01/2021 01:35

Oh you know what I meant 😝

This is why I have someone to check my work. My brain is dizzy 😁 That and I haven't slept a whole night since my baby was born. This is blooming mumsnet after all 👍

tobee · 25/01/2021 01:37

Lol

hexonthebeach · 25/01/2021 06:54

Because they're bloody spreaders and there's not a cats chance in hell the rest of us will sit here on our ruined pile of lives, jobs gone/children out of school/mental health in tatters while Doris at number 44 gets to swan around like she's won the lottery

Redrivershore · 25/01/2021 07:08

Vaccination of vulnerable groups just gives them the same chance to go shopping and daily walks the same as less vulnerable groups have been able to do all along. Rules should be the same for everyone, old, young, vaccinated or not.

tobee · 25/01/2021 07:15

@hexonthebeach

Because they're bloody spreaders and there's not a cats chance in hell the rest of us will sit here on our ruined pile of lives, jobs gone/children out of school/mental health in tatters while Doris at number 44 gets to swan around like she's won the lottery

Correction!

Because they might be bloody spreaders. Or maybe not. We don't not have sufficient data

How many times does this need to be said on this thread?

tobee · 25/01/2021 07:16
 • We don't have sufficient data that should read.
ChocOrange1 · 25/01/2021 07:25
@tobee
You can still catch it, its been PROVEN!!!!!
Still catch it and still DIE !!!!!!
You do know that people die (or DIE!!!) from all sorts of things. We aren't going tube able to achieve zero deaths from covid, even with vaccines, just like we haven't achieved zero deaths from measles, or pretty much anything else. People will DIE!!! Of covid like they DIE!!! from other diseases, we just aim to reduce those as much as we can.

trulydelicious · 25/01/2021 08:58

@Kokeshi123

be different to every other vaccine that has ever existed

These are different vaccines indeed. That's why caution is needed at this time

trulydelicious · 25/01/2021 09:08

@Kokeshi123

If we want to address the UK's hellish generational inequality, let's do something constructive, like get rid of the triple locked pension rule

Why bring up this load of bollocks on this thread? Very compassionate... killing grannies and stripping them off their pensions

The way I understand it is that the vaccination should help stop you getting seriously ill from Covid but it doesn't stop you getting it altogether and then spreading it.

And the more the virus is allowed to spread the more opportunities it has to mutate into something vaccine resistant. So even though some people are vaccinated we still cant allow it to run rampant.

Could be wrong tho.

tobee · 25/01/2021 14:45

We don't know yet. There's not enough data about spreading or not spreading or reduced transmission.

It's speculation to state otherwise.

tobee · 25/01/2021 14:47

Where's the bangs head against the wall emoji?

Also, there are 3 approved vaccines here so far. With many in development. I daresay they will have differences as to efficacy and whether they stop transmission etc.
