Isolating before hospital treatment

user8602357 · 24/01/2021 12:40

I have some hospital treatment booked for 3 weeks time, I am not staying in I will be having three appointments and one scan over a week. I have been told I need to isolate for two weeks before. I stayed in hospital in July and isolated before but didn't realise I would need to for appointments. Anyone else had to do this?

I'm having hospital treatment at the beginning of Feb and was told I need a covid test done 3 days before and then isolate til the appt

It's standard here, DP has had several planned admissions and we have all been asked to self isolate before all of them.

I think it's because you're actually having treatment. I have had check up appointments and haven't had to isolate beforehand.

If they want to treat you in a 'clean' ward, it's a normal safety precaution.

If you cannot isolate, you need to reschedule the appointment.

so possibly because of the scan then? I have had various appointments since March and not had to isolate before.

Could be. Mine was for a mammogram, but they didn't ask me to isolate before. If it's a scan where you have to go inside the scanner maybe that's why.

My dm has recently been advised to self isolate for 14 days before she has an operation to remove a cancerous lump.

I had to isolate 14 days before cataract op, and will have to again for the other eye.
