Continuous cough?

I'm still unclear about what constitutes a continuous cough (in terms of triggering the need for a test/ isolation) any thoughts? I've read all the guides and I appreciate the difference between a new an pre existing cough but what exactly is an episode of coughing?

When my daughter had covid, we were told a new continuous cough is either coughing a lot for more than an hour or 3 or more coughing episodes in a 24 hour time window.

Hope she's ok now
That's the part I'm wondering- what constitutes an episode of coughing
Did she have Any other signs?

Sorry I've just seen this. Her doctor said it was classed as an episode of coughing as each time the coughs lasted for a minute or more and were really pulling on her chest. I'm not sure if others would class it differently, the advice can be very consistent.
She is now, it was back in March last year when covid was very new and she was hospitalised due to a fever of 40 that wasn't coming down. After a couple of days she was right as rain again, and no lasting effects thankfully.

Coughing, a temperature and a lack of appetite were her symptoms.

Glad it was negative for you! It's such a worrying time these days. I've questioned so many illnesses that normally I wouldn't even think twice about.

Yes it's stressful isn't it
Thank you for your help
