Both my son (3 yrs old) and I are not too well & I don't know or not if we need a test. Has anyone had these symptoms and had COVID or am I being over cautious.

I started with a sore throat Thursday evening,
And a very itchy nose.
Friday , still sore throat & slight headache. I also have a three month old who doesn't sleep well so I do have a headache a lot at the moment and of course V tired.
Yesterday, Saturday my sore throat bit better, very itchy sore eyes and now a streaming cold. No temp, V occasional cough but wouldn't say j had a cough.

My son slight cough at breakfast yesterday and was fine all day until 5ish herb started streaming cold and itchy eyes. All fine until he's gone to sleep and then wakes screaming in pain from throat. Had Calpol and is sleeping but throat
And nose V bad.

Any advice would be great, j filled in the Zoe app but no advice on whether to test or not. In bubble with elderly parents and got baby so worried)

Thank you all x

Just felt son's head, next to me in bed at the moment, and I think he may have a temp now!
Really worried as we've seen my parents!!!!

Yes. My first symptoms back in March were itchy eyes, runny nose, fatigue.

To be honest any symptoms I would be testing at the moment.

Thank you @lovelemoncurd
I will look to book a test in the morning. So many people say runny nose not a symptom so I've been so unsure.
How did your symptoms progress and over what timescale?
Thank you x

Are you me? I've been minging this week with the exact same symptoms and still have it.

I've tested negative.

@PhilCornwall1 haha! That made me laugh!
Sorry to hear you're feeling crap!
Glad you tested negative! I'll be more relaxed if I knew it was 'just a cold'! So worried about baby and parents!!! Sad
Feel better soon!

I started with sore itchy eyes that didn't respond to eye drops, runny nose, itching nose, so tired plus headache, then diarrhoea, then a cough a few days later, then 9 days later breathless - couldn't walk up the garden ( previously ran 5k), etc.

But pulse oximeter for parents if worried. I did.

Hope you do too.

I'd get yourself tested, the results were really quick down here. Booked the test at 3pm Thursday and had it that evening at 7pm (could have had it earlier) and result was through by 4pm Friday.

Although at Christmas I did get a cold as developed similar symptoms and tested negative. The difference was the Covid symptoms didn't bloom into a full sneezy head cold.

That's why we should consider strongly who we are seeing. Hmm Even bubbles don't help when one of you gets symptoms and you realise you've put vulnerable people at risk.

Similar symptoms last week and tested positive. I got tested the day the symptoms started because I started running a temperature. Felt awful for about four days - now on day 6.

Wanted to get tested because we have a childcare bubble with a nanny and didn't want to risk passing it to her and her family.

Fingers crossed for a negative for you and you start feeling better soon.

MargosKaftan · 24/01/2021 07:32

DD had similar but it was just a cold.

Best to be safe than sorry and get a test. They arent that bad, get it done so you can relax.

covetingthepreciousthings · 24/01/2021 07:38

I would have got a test for the sore throat head ache, so yes would get both of you tested, if either of you have been around your parents in the last 48 hours before your symptoms started (or between then and now) they also need to isolate until your test results come back.

Hope it's negative.

My MiL had Covid and the first symptoms were sore throat, headache and cold.
