Timeline for test

Had an email today from our nursery to say my son has to self isolate due to a child testing positive. Said child attended nursery yesterday. So he/she would have had to have had been tested at a centre (as post test wouldn't have arrived in time). My daughter had to have one earlier this week, so I know the earliest time bookable is 8am. Nursery emailed us at 4pm. My daughter's (negative test) came back on Tuesday in 18 hours, which I thought was super quick. It seems very fishy to me that the child could have been tested/results returned/contacted nursery/nursery emailed parents, within 8 hours. Or am I being unfair and the tests really can be that quick? I know noone can help being sick. I'd be livid to think a parent sent their child in on Friday waiting a test result though.

Could it have been a lateral flow test? Results for those are very quick, minutes rather than days or hours

One of my friends had a test back from a test centre in 9 hours this week. Fecking impressive

Could the child have got ill during the day at nursery yesterday and sent home, so was tested say yesterday afternoon?
