Test with no common symptoms

Are we supposed to get tested if we don't have the common symptoms?
I'm achey and feel run down with a slight sore throat. (Usual cold symptoms for me)

I've been tested 2 times in the past when I've had a cough.
I also think I had covid in April but tests weren't available then.

So are we supposed to get tested every time we feel slightly unwell?

Before now I would have said no it’s just a cold, but I think if you can get a test then you may as well. I tested positive on Thursday after having woken the day before with a blocked nose, I only knew because I work for the nhs and am doing twice weekly lateral flow tests which came up positive when I did it in the morning. I’m still waiting for any of the three main symptoms to arrive!

Whatever it is I hope you feel better soon.

It depends if you think you may have been in contact with anyone who may have covid. I don’t go shopping, only go out to walk the dog, so if I have a cough or feel unwell, I think it’s probably nothing serious, but you know your body if you suspect it could be covid, book a test and just tick one of the symptoms listed.
