Nurses. How are you managing the exhaustion?

Cos there ain’t no exhaustion like this exhaustion Confused

I am literally working, sleeping ( badly) working and repeating.
Normally if I feel a but down or a bit run down I can push myself to do a bit more exercise but I literally can’t get my legs to work when I’m off duty.
I know it’s not physical because when I’m at work I can go 12 hours at full throttle.

How the hell are other people managing-it’s a pretty common theme in my team so we’re not really much use to each other in terms of advice! My diet is probably crap. My skin is awful and my house is a bit grubby ( I don’t even get stressed about the housework any more Blush )

Double, the vaccinations were only offered and given here last Friday, which was unfortunately too little too late. Some of them had the vaccine but have still subsequently tested positive for covid this Friday. I'm angry that if the vaccine would have been given here 2/3 weeks earlier this situation could have probably have been avoided.
@Doublefaced thank you. We survived another week and things are looking more positive now.
I hope your week has been bearable and you’ve managed to switch off at times.
So glad to hear.
Hoping things continue to improve Smile

I’m in ICU and just as our COVID admissions have started to decline we have had an increase in trauma, cardiac and neuro patients being admitted so no fewer patients overall. ICUs opened up all over the hospital and nursing ratios 1 nurse to 4 patients, it’s absolutely exhausting. Colleagues crying and broken every shift, many people off sick.

I slept all day and all night after finishing nights yesterday morning, then have had a nap for 3 hours this afternoon.

Everything aches and I can’t see an end to it.

I can’t imagine what ICU nurses are feeling right now Sad
Have you got some time off now?
I’ve just had my leave cancelled for next week Sad

I'm a student nurse on consolidation (nearly there!!) and have to work as a Bank HCSW just to keep my financial head about water. Sometimes I do 60 plus hours a week.
I'm 51. I'm menopausal. I'm knackered. Wards are hard at the moment. Morale rock bottom. Sickness high.
It all seemed such a good idea Smile

Thank you doublefaced, it is bad but I know the wards are getting slammed as well. Also had my leave cancelled last week although from next week they are letting people take it.

I’ve had 2 days off and done absolutely nothing, not even got out for a walk. My house is a mess and I just want to crawl back into bed.

Praying that things get better for all of us soon.
